• May. 25, 2008 - I Love It Here

Have I mentioned that?  :D

So I was out doing some last-minute grocery shopping for lunch today.  I had my girls with me, along with their baby brother.  A gentleman stopped me to count the children, and when he heard there were three more at home, he said, "That's wonderful!"  He spoke to the girls a bit and then commented, "You know, you heard all those dire warnings about overpopulation years ago...but the Bible says to have your quiver full."  His wife was really funny; I could tell she was used to his speaking at length to total strangers in the grocery store.  "Let's leave these folks alone, honey."  "Say goodbye, George!" (Referencing George Burns and Gracie Allen, I'm sure, because this fellow's name was not George.  LOL!)

I mean, you hear all types of comments in the grocery store (yesterday, a woman said "Seven!" loudly to her husband as we passed them at Wal-Mart), but how often do you hear somebody reference scripture?  Cool!

Speaking of that...we have Made Contact with the County School Board and received a response that we are to fill out a form and submit it to the board before their next meeting, at which they will decide whether to "approve" our religious exemption from public school.  Hope this is just a rubber-stamp kinda thing, but I will be calling HSLDA tomorrow just to get advice on how to proceed.  No biggie, we hope.

Tomorrow is our first day back with the unit study we've been doing on ancient Greece.  I've got some minor prep to do tonight (just reading the teacher's guide and printing out anything cool to go along with it, basically).

I feel so gypped.  I bought the Sunday WaPo, and there were NO coupon inserts!!!  I spent $2.10 for a bunch of fluffy articles about Chinese authors and "Sex and the City" fashion advice.  Grrr.  And they wonder why circulation is down.  I'm not much interested in their front page editorials.

We went to church today at a large-ish AoG church in town.  Had to leave early when the babe got noisy.  I didn't want to put him in the already overburdened nursery.  That's a fast-track to a virus, right there.

Hubby dug a hole at the pond site yesterday, and found clay.  That's supposed to be a good sign.  Apparently, the hole is still holding water at the water table level today.  Another good sign.  Hubby has also spoken to neighbors who have ponds on their property. He's already researched our soil type thanks to the book I mentioned before.   I guess you could say he is in research mode.  I'll try to post pictures once the project kicks into high gear and the actual digging begins.

I am charging up my video cam battery so I can get video of Fuzzy's scooting skills.  He loves to go for the computer equipment, mostly.  Of course.

Well, best go get ready....

I wish someone had done a little research before digging our pond in Mississippi. It is always full in wet years, being at the bottom of a ravine, but dries up quickly when rain is scarce. We heard that it needs a clay liner, but that is not at the top of our money priorities. :/
I'll bet your husband is having fun on his new toy. Jim can't wait to get back to his tractor. I hope it is still running. It needed a major overhaul last time we moved away for 2 years. Too many critters used it for a nest.
