Back to (Home)School Contest
Here's a contest that Jacque has at her site. I've copied and pasted part of the contest "rules" here, but you'll need to go to her site to read all of the info. The words in red are copied from her blog.
Post your plans for this school year
By plans, I mean:
What type of homeschooler are you?How do you homeschool? (Do you plan??) Plan?! You mean, we're supposed to have a plan?! Seriously though, I have done some planning for this year. As for type of homeschooler, I suppose I'd be considered eclectic because I'm somewhat of an unschooler, but I like Charlotte Mason ideas as well as others. I plan to do my own version of Sing, Spell, Read, & Write and Five in a Row with a little of Ann Ward "thrown in" and of course, Bible memory and study.
Are you using a specific curriculum or a conglomeration or none? Oh, guess I answered this question already (above). We'll definitely be using a conglomeration.
Are you making it up yourself? Yes, but hopefully I'll have a lot of input/guidance from the Holy Spirit.
Do you have a plan or just use ideas as you go? I'm thinking that we'll try to follow the "plan" in Ann Ward's book First Grade: Learning at Home ; but if that doesn't work, then we'll go with something else.
Do you homeschool in desks, at the table or anywhere it works?? We homeschool anywhere and everywhere.
Tell me what you are excited about that you will be doing! I'm just excited knowing that our 6 yr. old will probably learn to read this year.
Are you going to teach each child in their own grade level or do you multi-grade teach? I have one in "first grade" and a four year old. So, I guess I'll be multi-grade teaching, if four year olds "count." (no pun intended.)
You don't have to answer each question; this is just an example of what I am looking for. I would love to hear input and ideas, because I think we all love to read how others do it. We can encourage each other and "spur each other on" in homeschooling with our ideas. I hope that my input and ideas will encourage someone and "spur them on" in homeschooling.
