My two nephews are in the Army, one in Basic, and one doing his training that happens right after BT.

Kevin Sultenfuss (age 20) - Fort Lee, Virginia
Shaun Sultenfuss (age 18) - South Carolina (BT)

Yes, they are brothers, the only two children of my sister Jodie - & yes, they've already been told when they finish training, they will be sent to a war zone. I'm guesstimating that they will both be "over there" within the next six months.

Thanks for this!

My son SN Daniel Stilwell is currently in school in the US Navy. When he is finished in October, he will be serving in the Pacific fleet based out of San Diego. Please pray not only for protection for all our sons, daughters, husbands, wives, fathers and mothers serving, but also for the strength to stand faithful to Him in an environment that does not always encourage faithfulness to God.

Hi there... just FYI, Kevin Sultenfuss is now in Missouri, for the next five weeks, finishing up the last little bit of his training.

After the five weeks are up, he gets to fly home for two weeks, and then he will be stationed at Ft. Hood here in Texas - that is, until he gets sent overseas, who knows how soon that will be.

Thanks, Suzanne, for doing this... (((HUGS)))

Suzanne -

My nephew Shaun graduated from BT last weekend (praise God! He didn't get in any trouble to extend it longer - you never know with that one...), but he is still in Fort Jackson, SC, for his continued training for the next 10 weeks or so - and I don't know where he will be stationed once his training is over (though I'm hoping here in Texas!).

My nephew Kevin will be coming home from Fort Leonard Wood, MO, on September 23 or thereabout for a two week break (Yeah!) and then will be stationed at Fort Hood, here in Texas, after that. I'm assuming he will stay here until he is sent overseas, but he is not sure how far off that will be.

Also, my cousin, Daniel Sultenfuss is leaving for Iraq at the end of September - US Army - not sure of his rank, I just know he's in charge of some people when he goes - it will be his second tour. He is currently stationed at Fort Hood.

Also, my step-brother-in-law, Gary Williams, is serving in the US Army, he is stationed at Fort Campbell KY (I believe this is right). He served in Iraq, and I'm not sure if he will be going back, or when.

Again, thanks for doing this... it is so thoughtful of you to keep this up.

Hi Suzanne!

I'm so sorry, I think I must have told you something wrong - Daniel isn't 18! He is 26, almost 27!!! He was born in October 1979...

Daniel left on September 24, to serve a year in Iraq, and yes, it is his 2nd time over there.

Shaun just turned 19, last week, so I thought I'd update you on that as well.

Thanks again for this...

We had a welcome home party for my nephew Kevin last weekend (back from six months of training, his first time ever away from his hometown and family for longer than a week). I found out that a friend of his & Shaun's, whose brother joined the Army with Shaun and left for BT in July, has also enlisted. He is leaving in January for BT, both brothers will be in the airborne division. I thought you might find it interesting that out of Shaun's graduating class (May 2006), Shaun and six of his friends joined the service (mostly Army, one Marine, and I believe one Navy, though I might be wrong on that). Their enlisting prompted Kevin to join, and now the other brother. I am just amazed at these young men, joining up knowing what they are getting into... what faith and determination they have. Their community has been hit with at least one fatality from the war, I think they've actually lost two or three people from their area if not more - the town population is less than 7,000, a small South Texas town.

Hi Suzanne!

Updates on my boys... Kevin is now 21, and he deploys December 1 for Taji, Iraq. Shaun is now stationed at Fort Hood, Texas, and expects to deploy next summer. (Of course, Kevin thought he was deploying next fall, so we'll see when they ship Shaun out...)

Glad to see an update! Praying for God to give you peace right now.

Hi there!

Just wanted to let you know that Kevin deployed today (it got pushed back a couple of weeks for one reason or another). He'll be in Taji, Iraq, until October of next year, he's with the 1st Cavalry Division.

Shaun is at Fort Hood now, he's in the 4th Infantry Division, and will possibly deploy next October... we'll know closer to time, of course.

Their official names:

PV2 Kevin Sultenfuss
PFC Shaun Sultenfuss

Thanks again for doing this! So much appreciated...

Hi Suzanne! I just noticed the list on your sidebar... a couple of changes for my boys:

Kevin is now SPC Kevin Sultenfuss, and he won't come home until early 2008 (January or February). He's getting married in March, BTW! A lovely girl - perfect match for our family.

Shaun is still PFC Shaun Sultenfuss, still at Fort Hood, and thankfully he won't deploy until the spring of 2008 - we just got word that his deployment, which had been postponed until this December, got postponed again. So, yay! He'll be here for the birth of his second-cousin, his brother's wedding, and Christmas! All good things...

Again, thanks for doing this - it is so very much appreciated!

Hi Anita,

I was youth and Children's Pastor at Security FBC in Texas (the only full time pastor out of 3 - go figure), I was very involved in our Baptist Association (Tryon Evergreen Baptist Association) and Splendora FBC will be bringing a mission team up to help us in the fall - we are good friends with them. West Rome Baptist Church in GA is our main sponsoring church and for the last 4 years have sent mission teams up to Medicine Hat, AB to prepare the way for a Church planter. This will be the first Canadian Southern Baptist Church in the city. Thanks for checking out our blog!

Hi Suzanne!

Lots of updates here:

- Kevin is home! He arrived home on Thursday, January 17, and we are so happy to have him back! His new orders show him shipping out to Germany (!!!) for three years, deploying in June.

- Shaun will deploy to Iraq in the middle of March. This is as "official" as it can be right now - they've already packed and shipped most of their necessities to Iraq for them, aside from the 150 lbs they can take the day they leave.

- Daniel is home, he came home in November (I think) and got married December 29. I think he is finishing up his Army job in the next few months, and returning to civilian life soon. Praise God he was kept safe on all his tours of Iraq.

Thanks as always for posting this! :-)
