Friday Show and Tell--Baby Shower Collage

My DD is having a baby shower for our newest addition, Julianna, and the gal giving the shower asked me to do the devotion for my daughter. I don't do devotions. I can never think of anything to write for notes. (Yes, I know that sounds weird coming from an author, but it is the truth. I write fiction, and devotions are anything but fiction).
However, I knew my DD would think it so totally special to have her mom do the devotion for her baby's shower that I consented. I decided to put together a collage of my DD as a baby and small child and use III John 4 as my "devotional" verse: "I have no greater joy than this, to hear of my children [daughter] walking in the truth." My DD has always walked in the truth and is raising her children in the Truth, also.
So--for S&T Friday--here is the collage I created to go along with my devotion:
The newest baby looks just like my DD as a baby (out of her 5 kids). I also wrote her a letter expressing my joy at the woman she has become. I'll read it at the shower but I'm not going to post it here.

You are such a WONDERFUL , LOVING, AWESOME Mom. I received a card for my birthday from my Mom this year and it was the same type of feelings she expressed to me. I cherish that in my heart as one of the most prize memories I have. To have a proud Mom is the best thing ever !!! What a

Yeah, I know the feeling about the devotional. Fiction is my friend, and when I was told to give a spontaneous devotional for the Jewels group, it was very... interesting.

When I was a page in Olympia, Mom left a note for me at my host's house. I've still got it and cherish it. :-)

Great show and tell. You did a great job with the photos. Thanks for visiting my show and tell... and yes, you're right. There is only three in the photo, but a four generation photo. My father is missing from the photo - my mom's mom passed a way a couple of years ago (I still get choked up thinking about it - we were close). I should really get a photo with my dad in it... it would be a good reason to get together!

Have a great weekend.

What a blessing it is to have the honor of speaking at your daughter's baby shower. You give hope to us mothers of younger children! As for my blogging time, I'll let you in on a secret. I work ahead. I would not be able to do Show and Tell if I did not already have an outline saved as a draft! So, when I do get a spare moment, I am working on my next post. At least that is my plan! Have a blessed weekend. Jenn

Aug. 19, 2007 - Palm Trees..

Posted by HeartnSoul
Hi Susan thanks for stopping by! All the date palm and all palm trees were imported from the middle east starting in the early 1900's. Now none can be imported (contraband) so what is here is all there is to grow new ones. The tree nurseries are loving the no competition :) Our neighbor has a huge very old King Palm in his front yard, it alone is worth $35,000. Also, DH says they are from the "grass" family :D
