How to Move a Piano across the Street....

I've edited this post from the Archives so I can enter it in a blogging contest over at Photographer's Best Friend. We're supposed to take a series of pictures and link back to her. What can we win? A Kodak printer!

Join us as we move our family heirloom piano from our house (where it has rested peacefully for 30 years) to my DD's house--across the street and around the corner.

Step 1: Roll onto plywood to protect carpet...

Step 2: Carefully examine doorway to see if piano will fit...

Step 3: One, two, three....PUSH!

"Uh...the tailgate is higher than the porch. Now what?"

Heave, ho, up we go!
Oh, wow! I can't believe we're on our way!

To be sung to the tune of "Over the River and Through the Woods, to Grandmother's House we go..."
"Out of the driveway and through the street, to sissy's house we go..."

"OK, a little more. Just a little...NO! Not the post! Not the post!"

"Yikes! Another tight squeeze!"
"Oh, no! It's....backwards! Turn it around. Slowly now. We're almost done."

Safe at last. And ready for a third generation of pianists.

And that, folks, is how you move a piano across the street!

Samantha and I think you should definitely put a barn dance in one of your books. We are hoping they will come back in style. Maybe you could help start the trend.

That is a beautiful piano!

Fun post. With the song suggestion, I could somehow picture you sitting in the back of truck on the side, playing it on the piano while singing and moving it. Why is that?
Loved you other post, too.
I love the space stuff, cause it all just points to God and how awesome He is. That He made all that stuff we couldn't even see until Hubble. And so much more, thinking of up close! Why do you suppose He made all that?

Pretty piano. I just sold mine this past Spring. I really miss it. Thankfully we only had to help with loading it into the truck! Are your grandbabies going to take lessons?

Blessings,
Lori

Ha Ha. I was amused by all of the men looking at the tailgate. I have witnessed the same scene many times in my life. Have a great day.

I remember years ago (literally~ when I was in 3rd grade!) my parents bought a piano from another family in our town~ I remember it arriving at our house.
Then, when I got married and moved away~ we brought it with us~ what a challenge! Somedays I wish it wasn't taking up space in the living room! But, I do treasure it!

Funny account. I like that. You gotta see humor in the little things or you will become bitter! LOL!

I hope your time of giving thanks is truly blessed and special.

Just wanted to drop in on all the contestants in the printer contest. Your piano is beautiful and I'm glad to see nothing/nobody was hurt in the move. ;)
