Scribblings from a twenty-year homeschool veteran about homeschooling, life after homeschooling, occasional peeks into the world of writing for children, and the ups and downs of life in general.
OK...this one is offered with no pictures, because if I post a picture it will give the answer away. Ready? It's a riddle:
Four men sat down to play,
They played all night 'til break of day.
They played for gold and not for fun
With separate scores for everyone.
When they came to square accounts,
They all had made quite fair amounts.
Can you the paradox explain,
If no one lost, how could all gain?
I'm no good at riddles; but if anyone has hobbit blood (as everyone knows, hobbits are renowned riddle lovers), they will probably be able to solve it. Check back on Wordless Wednesday for the answer.

At any rate, "With separate scores for every one" would seem to mean that they were each playing against themselves, so they would make a lot of money playing, but they didn't lose any because they were getting it all back!
