Bones

Posted in just for fun
We have been studying bones a bit these past couple of weeks.  We went to Kroger and asked for a bone to study.  They gave us this:

Did you realize a cow femur was so HUGE?  And the small chicken bone is soaking in vinegar for two weeks.  That should deplete the calcium level in the bone.  It did when we did it for the older children years ago...let's hope it works again.  We aren't too good about getting the desired results from science experiments, though.  Oh well, they're fun anyway.

I'm just stopping by to see what's new. I enjoyed your pictures. I love photography, I can stare at albums for hours and not get tired of it. I mostly enjoy pictures of people - candid shots, and I let my mind imagine the story behind the picture
Thanks for sharing..

Cool pictures! DD was sitting here and she said...'what's that'?

We are doing a bean sprouting experiment right now that was started in our co-op. We have beans getting morning sun, beans getting afternoon sun and beans in the closet:)

I'm back too. Mine was vacation, not internet trouble. Glad yours seems to be solved.
We have the same luck with science experiments around here. Drives me crazy when they don't work! : ) That is one huge bone. Well, I'll show my lack of knowledge....what happens to the bone when the calcium is depleted?

I had no idea that their femur was large.
