I'm in TOS Summer 2007!!

Posted in news
Hi all! I thought I'd post an updated entry since my first ever article is appearing in the Summer 2007 TOS!! You should be getting that soon around your house, if you don't have it already.

Check out page 92 for my contribution to this great magazine! I hope you find/found something that would help your school be a little less-stressful in my article "Harmonious Homeschool."

If you are visiting my blog for the first time because you just read my article in TOS, THANKS! Please
tell me what you thought of it. You may also want to read more about why we live at a Bible College or just look around and see what we've been up to lately.

Sorry, I haven't updated much this summer, but I hope you enjoyed my article and TOS!

I haven't received my magazine yet, but hopefully it will be here soon - I look forward to reading your entry! Our grass looks as dry as yours. I am hoping we get some rain soon. I hope you are having a good start to your school year - the summer sure looked fun!

Your article was an anwer to my prayer. My 7 yr old man is behind in math and reading, very smart but a late learner. I have been ashamed, insecure and on and on. God gave me peace after reading this, no more comparing no worrying about grades. And I will continue to start our day with recess without guilt. Thanks!!!

I came by here to specifically tell you that I enjoyed your article. You go girl! It was an encouragement to the things we do and our thoughts on how we homeschool. I liked the idea of lessons plans being numbered Day 1, Day 2, insted of Mon, Tues. Seems like I might have done that in a past homeschooling life, but it eluded me this time around. Since we are "off" as many days as we're "on" (I did not say that!), that will be very helpful. (Just because we are off that schedule, doesn't mean learning isn't happening!) : )

My summer issue arrived two days ago, and as I was flipping through last night I saw your article. I thought, "Hey, I know her (sort of)!" It was SO cool. The best part was I loved your article. And what you wrote about marking your lesson plans was something I discovered myself last year! I write my plans out the weekend before (it saves a lot of hassle to have a plan) and I used to write Mon, Tues, Weds, etc. above each subject. Then, when I missed something, which will inevitably happen, I would look at my plan and know that I "failed" to get all my work done, even if the kids did some other great activity. Now I write, Lesson 1, Lesson 2, etc. over each plan. If I don't get "Lesson 1" done on Monday I can still do it on Tuesday without feeling like I am a day behind. It sounds trivial, but feeling like you're trying to "catch up" adds a lot of unnescessary stress!

Your article was featured in today's Crosswalk Home School Life newsletter. It was very encouraging and a true blessing! I plan to share it with the ladies in our homeschool group.

Hey Girl,
Email me your address so I can send you these books you loaned me. I brought them to the homeschool picnic, hoping you'd be there. Hope all is going well for you.

Thanks for sharing your words of wisdom in this article. A friend of mine emailed this article to me and I forwarded it to other HS moms and posted a comment about it in my blog.

I'm the world's worst about adding unnecessary stress on our school days. I needed to read your article in the worst way. I know the Lord was speaking to me through your words. *hug* Thanks!
