Homeschoolers Grow Up

Posted in news

I just ran across an interesting article on the World Net Daily site.

The article was written by Dr. Samuel L. Blumenfeld
and was posted: February 4, 2006, 1:00 a.m. Eastern, © 2006 WorldNetDaily.com

When Homeschoolers Grow Up

It pertains to the National Home Education Research Institute's study of 5,247 home educated graduates.

My favorite quote from the article:

"Today's dumbed-down public education curriculum trains students to become cogs in the wheels of the economy. They can't read well, they can't write well if at all, and without supermarket checkout computers, they'd be lost in the unfathomable world of math. So they become victims in an economy that is changing too rapidly to accommodate them."

I was a homeschooler from K-12. And I can honestly say that I was better prepared for college than most of my peers. Not that that is true of all homeschoolers, but it was for me.

Thanks, Jen, for reading and commenting, and we are about 20 miles apart as the crow flies. Unfortunately we can't fly and would need to drive....so count on about 45 miles of driving.

Thanks, SupComTabz, for your great comment about being prepared. It's great to hear from real live 'success' stories!

My husband and I read this article also. We do agree that the public schools are insuffient. We are concerned about his comments pertaining to the choices such as rap and hip hop dance, especially since these are majority made up of people of color.

My Purpose

“My purpose is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” (Col. 2:2,3)
