August 25, 2008 Pictures and things
Boy, you don't know how much you rely on the Internet until it's gone. Our server here at the college was in the process of being 'updated' when everything went wrong. What was supposed to be a weekend job for our IT department is now into it's second week of struggles.
Our home Internet was off for just over a week, while my hosting site for pictures was gone for a bit longer than that. Web pages / blogs don't look very good without images! At least mine don't because I'm one of those people who likes posting pictures!
How wonderful it has been to find the Internet was back on Saturday night and to find all my images back this morning! Kudos to our IT department who must have worked on the weekend to try and get everything up and running for the students who return to campus today.
And a great week to you all too!

August 6, 2007 I'm in TOS Summer 2007!!
Hi all! I thought I'd post an updated entry since my first ever article is appearing in the Summer 2007 TOS!! You should be getting that soon around your house, if you don't have it already.

Check out page 92 for my contribution to this great magazine! I hope you find/found something that would help your school be a little less-stressful in my article "Harmonious Homeschool."
If you are visiting my blog for the first time because you just read my article in TOS, THANKS! Please tell me what you thought of it. You may also want to read more about why we live at a Bible College or just look around and see what we've been up to lately.
Sorry, I haven't updated much this summer, but I hope you enjoyed my article and TOS!

Wonderful! My precious husband graduated with his Master of Art's degree in New Testament theology from Johnson Bible College last night.
Here is a picture of him receiving his Master's academic hood. We are so thankful to God for allowing him this educational achievement.

April 23, 2006 TV Turnoff week - 2006
April 24 - 30, 2006 Television cuts into family time, harms our children's ability to read and succeed in school, and contributes to unhealthy lifestyles and obesity. Here are just a few of the facts: - On average, children in the US will spend more time in front of the television (1,023 hours) than in school this year (900 hours).
- Forty percent of Americans frequently or always watch television during dinner.
- As US Surgeon General Dr. David Satcher said at the Kick Off of TV-Turnoff Week 2001, "We are raising the most overweight generation of youngsters in American history...This week is about saving lives."
Read more about that at TV Turnoff network
A good book about this same subject is The Electronic Milestone:Christian Parenting in a Media Age Author : Philip Patterson ISBN : 0899004202
Our family turned off the TV during TV Turnoff Week in 1995; we have not turned it back on since. So this week we will be honoring TV Turnoff Week by allowing no computer games, videos or computer time. That goes for me too. I will not be posting, or reading the blogs this coming week. I will check the email everyday in case someone would need to contact me. I will be spending more time with my family. ~Betsy

February 6, 2006 Homeschoolers Grow Up
I just ran across an interesting article on the World Net Daily site. The article was written by Dr. Samuel L. Blumenfeld and was posted: February 4, 2006, 1:00 a.m. Eastern, © 2006 WorldNetDaily.com When Homeschoolers Grow Up It pertains to the National Home Education Research Institute's study of 5,247 home educated graduates. My favorite quote from the article:
"Today's dumbed-down public education curriculum trains students to
become cogs in the wheels of the economy. They can't read well, they
can't write well if at all, and without supermarket checkout computers,
they'd be lost in the unfathomable world of math. So they become
victims in an economy that is changing too rapidly to accommodate
them." ~Betsy
