Why is it that the first question a new mom always gets asked is "So, is baby sleeping through the night yet?"
Do I say "Well, no, he's up about every hour on the hour most nights" or do I make them feel better about it by saying "He's sleeping pretty well!" (even if it's been a very awake night) , or do I given them some variation in the middle? If I tell the truth I get a sad, pitied "oh, that's too bad" as the asker quickly slips away... The reality is, they really don't want to know, do they??
The truth is, MOST babies do NOT sleep through the night for at least the first couple of months. Granted there ARE some exceptions, but generally newborns do not sleep through the night!
All right, I'm done my rant now! So, for any of you who are interested, NO, the little one is NOT sleeping through the night yet - although he sleeps very well during the day! hehehehe

That question would drive me crazy. Especially because my little girl liked to wake up up every half hour until she was 18 months old. It was awful!!!! The other one that bugs me is: "Is she a good baby?"
What am I supposed to say to that? If you mean does she hardly every cry and does she sleep at night - then NO! But of course she is a good baby. She is my sweet baby......and love her.
anyway...enough rambling!

I know. I swear I only meet the moms whose babies sleep through from the get-go. Glad to know I'm not the only one with newborns that actually want to be fed during the night.
Or the other one I meet is the mom who just loves being up during the night with her newborn. I'm so exhausted - I can never wait for that phase to be over. Mind you - with my last I got insomnia if you can believe that. Baby would eat around 3am and go back to sleep - but I couldn't!!! And for awhile I couldn't nap during the day even when I had the opportunity. Is that daytime insomnia? Anyway - it was awful.
