Remembering.....

In Canada, November 11th is Rememberance Day - a special day where we remember those who have fought and do fight and support our military.  I took my children, today, to a Rememberance Service so that they could understand better the sacrifices of the soldiers and their families.  Thank you to those who have served.  Thank you to those who have been willing to give their lives for our country.  Thank you to those who have allowed their loved ones to serve. 

                        Flanders Fields

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

There is a really good handwriting curriculum called "A Reason for Writing" that has been around for years. Guess what, they have one called "A Reason for Science" It is hands on Activities with Scriptures values.
