One of our fellow homeschool bloggers, Underdog, who just happens to be a dad, has a brilliant idea. Read all about it here, then send sponsorship money. At the very least, he needs an HSB shirt to wear during the event.

Underdog also has some pretty funny pictures on his blog. Be sure to scroll down through some of his posts. Gosh, homeschooling parents are really a strange breed.

Take this email I recently received from a homeschooling mom who lives around the corner from me. She has 4 very young children, which explains both her resourcefulness and her desperation:

"We weren't able to attend _____ Camp this year, but we are having cooking lessons at home (I'm trying to work myself out of a job). We don't have chefs' hats, so we're wearing white underwear on our heads."

I suppose there's a good Fruit of the Loom joke in there somewhere.

Thanks for ending my day on a chuckle! I'm sorry everyone is so mean to you when you are so entirely creative. The "cooking with underwear on your head" story is a riot - even though underwear in the kitchen kinda freaks me out. Oh, and the comment about underwear keeping the rollers in - really, it's too much. :o)

...for the kudos. I had an all time high number of visitors today, which was beginning to make me think this whole Downhill Marathon thing had a chance.

TC, Thanks for being kind when you posted on my blog site. I'm sure what was running through your mind was more along the lines of, "Good grief, Woman! I was comatose by the second paragraph and my husband found me slumped in front of the computer desk with drool dripping out of the corner of my mouth!"

After rereading my post, visions of a nervous child standing in front of a class reading her, "What I Did this Summer" assignment while dozens of unattentive classmates throw spitwads and each other and roll their eyes came to mind. Of course, these are traditional school children and not the angels that we homeschool moms are raising!

Hopefully, you'll find my next blog a little more entertaining.

I am adding you to my friends. My dh showed me your blog and it's really funny. He told me the story of the ground hogs on the way to church several weeks ago. I was laughing so hard. He's really enjoyed your blog as well. He especially loved the post on the hand bag (which was very interesting, BTW.)
