Fish in My Hair

I hope he didn't delete "70's Gold Disco Tuba Tunes."

I remember it like it was yesterday.

Three or four years ago, Husband came to me with information on a new device called an "iPod." "Look at these!" he exclaimed. "If I got one of these 40G iPods, it would store all the music I'd ever own."

I fell for it. He got the iPod.

In the many months since, the man has made it his personal mission to acquire every song ever written by any human, animal, vegetable, or mineral in world history. I think the only two CDs we are lacking is "Yanni Sings Ancient Egyptian Funeral Chants" and "Chinese Music to Celebrate the Year of the Ptarmigan." (I don't even know what a ptarmigan is; I've just always wanted to use that word on my blog.)

So I was only mildly surprised when he came to me last week and announced, "I have a Big Problem." Now, Husband's Big Problems usually run the gamut from running out of his favorite beverage, to needing a new Venison-scented air freshener for the car, to not being able to find his favorite pair of underwear (the one with the waistband stretched out in all the right places). But this Big Problem was of epic proportions. He glumly announced, "I have to take some music off my iPod to make room for new stuff."

I knew what was coming next.

"I could really use one of those new 60G iPods. It would hold all the music I could ever own." (This is where I was supposed to mentally hear sad violin music in the background. Instead, I could only imagine the "ka-ching, ka-ching" sound of a cash register, in harmony with Yanni.)

Here's the thing. The man has so much music, he's way past the whole pod concept. What he needs is an iSteamerTrunk.

And then he'll need the accessory iDolly to make it mobile. Ka-ching.

Sounds like an exotic cheese prepared by squids to me.

I think it sounds like a pro football player...

"The Colts scored their second touchdown of the game with a 17 yard play by tight end Ptarmigan Jones."

Lol

The new iPods are cooler though. My Dad got a 1st Generation iPod a few years ago, and it was almost an inch thick and the screen was black and white and all pixelly. The current ones (30 to 80 GB) are less than half an inch thick and in color. :D And you can put music videos, movies, and TV shows on it as well.

:)

This is what we're going through right now in my house...
my beloved wants an ipod and thinks that he needs to store all the sermons, music and audio bible he could ever want... trouble is, there is no end - as preachers keep on preaching, singers keep on singing and there are countless versions of the Bible to acquire. ugh.

I want a Creative Zen because it has a voice recorder... but of course nothing is compatible with itunes except ipod... the conflict continues :)

Just thought I'd share with you that your battle is not unique ;)

He sounds a lot like my DH!
(Except my DH has all cassette tapes...good luck converting those!)

Michelle

Ahhhh yes, but does he actually listen to all of these songs?

My frugal best friend actually responded YES! to her husband's plea for more tools. The true reason for her emphatic okay? She's hoping to acquire a superautomatic espresso machine-- with it's super-automatic pricetag-- in the near future.

So, is there anything that you've been dying to have as well? ;-)

Of course that would be slightly manipulative and completely WRONG, but.... y'know... is there anything?...

Actually, for husband's information, there is a song that really does have that cash register sound of ka-ching - it's called Money, by Pink Floyd. Don't know if you're old enough to remember that, but I can tell you iTunes has it because I played it for my kids last week. For some reason they weren't impressed. Go figure. Karen (bensrib)

I bought the Head Kook one of those Mp3 player thingamjigs before ipods came out. It looks old fashioned now, and of course it was made badly so one time he lost all his songs...boy was he mad! :-)
Anyway, I think a sewing room would be a cool trade...don't you?
