Fish in My Hair

If he wasn't flat before, he will be by the time he leaves our house.

I was over at TrainingHearts' blog today and found out that she's got a Virtual Flat Stanley project going on, so I immediately signed us up.

Well, as ol' Stanley came rolling out of the printer, my children wanted to know what was going on. From their reactions, you'd have thought I had just suggested that we start a six-week diet of Yahtzee score pads and thumb tacks.

• "You have GOT to be kidding."
• "MOM!" (Prounounced in the more dramatic, 2-syllable fashion)
• "No way am I taking that little creep to ballet class."
• "He has big ears."

"Oh, come on!" said I. "Think of all the fun adventures we can take Stanley on. And, we get to take pictures and you can put them on your blogs." I thought their eyes were going to roll right out of their too-cool teenage heads.

Then the little heathens began to suggest some activities for Stanley. Perhaps he would like to experience a paper shredder? He can light the grill for hamburgers! Maybe he'd like to play with the dogs. Origami?!

Poor, poor Stanley. I fear he's in for a rough time at our house. Photos will be forthcoming. Unless my son straps him to a firecracker first.

We hosted a Flat Stanley a few years ago. My teens had the best time with him, but I fear it was not quite what the sending family had in mind. We took him bungee jumping off the local bridge, he played chicken in the middle of the highway, and we went shooting (as in guns), among other dare-devil type things. But at least Stanley got born again and we did get pictures of him being baptized in the river. He was quite happy to be mailed home. Have fun! Karen (bensrib)

This is so funny! :-D We had Flat Stanley come visit us from my nephew in Washington State once. We were kind to him...he met horses and cows and sheep and took a tractor ride and went rafting (in a toy raft in our sheep watering barrel). We also got him (via the printer) a real pair of Justin boots, a straw hat and a lasso... I sent him back with a little leather photo album of his adventures. It was actually fun...of course the kids were much younger than they are now. :-) I can only imagine what adventures they would think up at this age...Have fun!

Flat Stanley??? That's a new one to me.

Hey, if you want something funny to listen to, I was interviewed on internet radio recently, pretending to know something about gardening. However, the host is unfortunately a Christian comedian, and the discussion sidetracked into hot-rodded Amish buggies.
