Okay, do you remember "Eye H"EAR" You?
Well, the sweet stinker got me back ... and good!
We were sitting in our pediatrician's office. Haley's eye problem had continued. It wasn't Pink Eye. It wasn't allergies. It wasn't an injury. That's all I knew - what it wasn't.
What it was was the question that led us to a visit at the pediatrician's. Now let me give you a little history. Dr. Anderson has been with us through a desperately sick newborn, a different newborn in the hospital, emergency surgery, and non-emergency surgeries (not all on the same child!), shutting down our Awana's program and homeschool co-op because 2 of the children had whooping cough (yes, we had immunized for it but this was a different strain), a 3rd degree burn, and many more things.
What he never sees us for us well-baby care, runny noses, or fevers.
Thus, I have heard Dr. Anderson say to his nurse, "The Flem's are here, schedule an X-Ray." Of course he is just kidding but the point is he only sees us when we really need to see him. Okay, the history lesson is over. Back to the story ...
As Dr. Anderson sat down he asked her what happened to her eye. She innocently zinged me with, "I think it hurts because Momma put ear drops in my eye."
I tried to make like an ice cube in Palm Springs and melt into my chair. It didn't work. This was one of those moments - a moment when you thank the Lord you had enough history with your Dr. that he ... simply laughed and laughed. 19 years. with a pediatrician does that.
Since I know someone will want to know, our wonderful pediatrician is Dr. Michael Anderson at Valley Children's Clinic in Renton WA.
