Today I am going to share something precious with you ... one of my favorite pieces. I LOVE this:

God, give me wisdom to see that today is my day with my children,

That there is no unimportant moment in their lives.

May I know no other career is as precious, no other work so rewarding, no other task so urgent.

May I not defer it or neglect it,
But by Thy Spirit accept it gladly, joyously,

Lorrie,

Thank you so much for helping me with the audio samples today. I'm learning how to make things easy, and you helped me.

Y'know, now that my nephew (5 months old) has come to visit, the post about children makes more sense to me. I've never liked babies much... fifth graders were great, but babies?... yet I'm seeing life happen faster, measuring it by the growth of the children around me. It seems that "my time is now" could apply to several areas of life -- all relational -- and even though I don't have kids of my own [yet], the reminder to fully live every second with my family and friends is a good one.

How wonderful the line about how nothing is unimportant in the lives of our children. I needed to hear that. How wrong for me to greet their words as "interruptions" from my important work. May God forgive me, as I remember that my children are His precious gifts, given for a short time, to treasure!

Hi Lorrie,
My babies are both adopted and I am so thrilled to be their Momma. I appreciated your words so much; I hate to miss any of their collective silliness and joy. So my housework isn't perfect; the boys will only be toddlers once.
(Actually, it will be a while before my housework is 'perfect'; we want at least two more boys and maybe a girl or two, before we get too old to adopt! LOL)

Thank you so much for posting this poem! How I need to be reminded of these things daily. This job of mother is one that I wouldn't trade for the world! Yet it is so easy to get caught up in the busyness of life at home that we forget to take each moment captive with our children. Thanks for the reminder!

Thank you for so many little nuggest of wisdom! So often we need gentle reminding or an encouraging word to help us make sense of all we're doing. Knowing why we do it and Who we are doing it for helps us carry on through the drudgery.
