Hello friends and fellow bloggers! Nancy Baetz here, with some important info about Lorrie Flem and her TEACHmagazine website.

I just talked with Lorrie and she and several members of her family have been down with some severe respiratory problems. Lorrie has pneumonia, and bronchitis right now, which has even turned into a form of asthma. She is very sick! She could not even talk to me for very long without going into coughing fits. I know she would really appreciate your prayers for her health and peace, and for the whole family, several who are suffering also.

She also has been at her wits end with a problem that caused the temporary shutdown of her website, www.TEACHmagazine.com. Someone hacked into the site and while she told me to assure you that the mailing list was untouched, the hackers did cause problems and used the TEACH name to send out spam. Due to a misunderstanding, Lorrie never even got the phone call that would have prevented the website from going off line. Please pray for patience and for a resolution to this situation in the Lord's will and timing.

This blog is a total blessing right now because she can get the info out to you who might be wondering what happened to TEACH.com! Her email is down, along with the website so she is thankful that she has this avenue to let you know she is alive and kicking, albeit not quite as "productively" and lively as usual.

I know you will all keep her in your prayers. It would be a great time to comment and let her know that you are praying for her!

I will let you know as soon as I get some news.

Lorrie, I'm so sorry to hear you're sick. And what a double whammy, with the website problems! I'm sure you know God's still in control, and has allowed this for whatever reason He has. Kay Arthur likes to give the illustration of God holding us tightly (but gently) in His closed fist, and whatever happens to us, whether good or bad, has to first filter through His fingers of love. Nothing takes Him by surprise, not one thing. Put this in His very capable hands, then relax and get well soon. I've prayed for you and will continue to! Hope we hear a good report soon.

I am sorry to hear of your recent illness and website problems. Because I was unable to get my email through to you, I wanted to make a comment about your Summer 2006 TEACH Magazine. In the section "Letters from Lorrie's Laundry Room" you wrote "...where we proceeded to sit on the runway for 1 hour and 20 minutes waiting to burn off the extra 500 pounds of fuel the OBVIOUSLY PUBLIC-SCHOOLED airline employee had loaded."

While I am all for homeschooling and homeschool my own large family, I know MANY wonderful kids who have not had the opportunity to be homeschooled and had no choice but to go to public school. And lots of them came out stronger Christians for it, with strong academic records besides. Too many homeschoolers have the idea that parents who put children into public school are "throwing them to the wolves." NOT TRUE!

As a homeschooler, the last thing I want to do is judge others for the schooling they choose for their children. And I would be VERY embarrassed for any public school parents to read the statement you wrote. A lot of my friends stop by and pick up my homeschool magazines to peruse. And the one thing they don't like to see is a "holier than thou" attitude from other homeschooling moms, as if they love their kids more than the public school moms do.

Please think about what you are writing. You have a lot of good and positive information to offer the homeschooling community, but it is wrong and unfair to use such gross generalities in making such a negative statement as you did in your column. Lorrie,
I just went to your website and saw that it was down. So I decided to come here and check things out. And found the answer right here in your blog. I am so very sorry to hear that you and some of your family members have been so ill. I pray that you will soon be feeling well again...and your loved ones also.

What a shame that someone would be so unkind as to hack into your website and wreak such havoc. I hope that once you are well, you will be able to get it all straightened out and back online.
