Yesterday I talked a little about looking around a problem instead of trying to bulldoze your way through it. Here's a great example of my mom in action:
Earlier this year mom was eating at my sister Mandy's house. Taylor, my nephew, brought his baby brother, Trevor, a sandwich what cut in half. Trevor cried because he wanted a whole sandwich. In fact he cried and cried. Gamma tried to explain it saying, "Two halves make a whole."
"No," insisted Trevor. He wanted a whole sandwich not to halves. Then the Gamma got sneaky. She tried again asking, "Trevor, would you like four sandwiches?"
He did. He happily finished eating his four quarter sandwich pieces without another word of complaint. :-)
