We will begin the first Bible Study of This Generation Ministry in Proverbs. Read Proverbs 1 (In the New Living Translation, NLT). A comment will be posted later today by Cassie Rose Camoriano on Proverbs chapter one.
Proverbs 1
The Purpose of Proverbs
1 These are the proverbs of Solomon, David’s son, king of Israel. 2 Their purpose is to teach people wisdom and discipline,
to help them understand the insights of the wise.
3 Their purpose is to teach people to live disciplined and successful lives,
to help them do what is right, just, and fair.
4 These proverbs will give insight to the simple,
knowledge and discernment to the young.
5 Let the wise listen to these proverbs and become even wiser.
Let those with understanding receive guidance
6 by exploring the meaning in these proverbs and parables,
the words of the wise and their riddles.
7 Fear of the Lord is the foundation of true knowledge,
but fools despise wisdom and discipline.
A Father’s Exhortation: Acquire Wisdom
8 My child,[a] listen when your father corrects you.Don’t neglect your mother’s instruction.
9 What you learn from them will crown you with grace
and be a chain of honor around your neck.
10 My child, if sinners entice you,
turn your back on them!
11 They may say, “Come and join us.
Let’s hide and kill someone!
Just for fun, let’s ambush the innocent!
12 Let’s swallow them alive, like the grave[b];
let’s swallow them whole, like those who go down to the pit of death.
13 Think of the great things we’ll get!
We’ll fill our houses with all the stuff we take.
14 Come, throw in your lot with us;
we’ll all share the loot.”
15 My child, don’t go along with them!
Stay far away from their paths.
16 They rush to commit evil deeds.
They hurry to commit murder.
17 If a bird sees a trap being set,
it knows to stay away.
18 But these people set an ambush for themselves;
they are trying to get themselves killed.
19 Such is the fate of all who are greedy for money;
it robs them of life.
Wisdom Shouts in the Streets
20 Wisdom shouts in the streets.She cries out in the public square.
21 She calls to the crowds along the main street,
to those gathered in front of the city gate:
22 “How long, you simpletons,
will you insist on being simpleminded?
How long will you mockers relish your mocking?
How long will you fools hate knowledge?
23 Come and listen to my counsel.
I’ll share my heart with you
and make you wise.
24 “I called you so often, but you wouldn’t come.
I reached out to you, but you paid no attention.
25 You ignored my advice
and rejected the correction I offered.
26 So I will laugh when you are in trouble!
I will mock you when disaster overtakes you—
27 when calamity overtakes you like a storm,
when disaster engulfs you like a cyclone,
and anguish and distress overwhelm you.
28 “When they cry for help, I will not answer.
Though they anxiously search for me, they will not find me.
29 For they hated knowledge
and chose not to fear the Lord.
30 They rejected my advice
and paid no attention when I corrected them.
31 Therefore, they must eat the bitter fruit of living their own way,
choking on their own schemes.
32 For simpletons turn away from me—to death.
Fools are destroyed by their own complacency.
33 But all who listen to me will live in peace,
untroubled by fear of harm.”
Cassie here,
I will be puting up posts on a regular basis about a Bible Study we will be doing. We will start by going through Proverbs. Today is Proverbs 1. Our first goal is that each member of our group will have a time as soon as they wake up and a time right before they go to sleep set apart for meditating on the Lord. These special times are called Quiet Times. A Quiet time includes at LEAST 30 minutes of prayer, reading at least 4 chapters in your Bible, a short session of worship (listen to christian music, sing along with it, maybe even dance a little :), and some time set apart to admire and meditate on God's creation. This means sitting outside on your swing or looking out your window for a little while and really meditate on creation. The Bible says that God considered the lily. Which means, while Jesus was on earth, he took time to sit in a field and look at a lily and think, "Look at that. Isn't it amazing? My Father in Heaven supplies all the needs of this little flower. How much more does He supply the needs of mankind? We should not worry about anything, if My Father takes care of these small things, how much more will he provide for me whom He loves a billion times more?" The Quiet time should take at least 1 hr. per Quiet time.

Good question. This Generation Ministry, or TGM, is a group of young Christians who are on fire for God. TGM's goal is to see as many of the youth here on this earth become Christians. But it doesn't just stop there. TGM's main goal is to see the youth on FIRE for God! You may ask, "On fire! That doesn't sound good. What does it mean?" Well, let me put it this way, if you are "on fire" for something, you are really passionate about it. Now having a passion for something, being on fire, means that you go after it with all your heart. You see, the chief end of man (the purpose in life) is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever. At TGM, it is not acceptable to say, "I love God with all my heart, mind, and soul," but then go on living like a normal, non-Christian, person. If you say that God is your Lord and Savior, the one who you serve, you should be reading your Bible, praying, seeking God, and thinking about God every day and all the time. Sure, you go to Church on Sundays and maybe even youth group on Wednesdays or Fridays, but that's not enough. Let me put it this way to help you understand a little more about what I am trying to say. Picture this, you are standing on a line. You are in the middle, God is on the far right side, and the devil is on the far left side. You go to Church on Sunday (take a step towards God on the line), but then on Monday you completely forget about God and do your own thing (Take a step towards the devil). Tuesday is the same (take another step towards the devil). Wednesday you go to youth group (a step towards God). Thursday, you go your own way (a step towards the devil), Friday, you go your own way again (another step towards the devil), and Saturday is the same (another step to the left). Sunday you go to church again and get all excited about God (a step towards God) but Monday you completely forget again (another step towards the devil). Now, since you have taken more steps to the left than to the right, you are closer to the devil than you are to God. If the devil is saying how bad you are, how you'll never amount to anything, how dumb you are, and all that gibberish while God is saying, "No, I created you in My image. You are fearfully and wonderfully made! You are smart," but you are closer down the line towards the devil, which one are you going to hear? (You can try this activity by having one friend stand on the right side of the room and the other standing on the left side of the room. You stand in the middle. Take a step to the right, two steps to the left, a step to the right, three steps to the left, and repeat until you are beside the friend on the left and have them both start talking to you. The friend on the left saying mean things about you and the friend on the right saying nice things about you. Which one can you hear better? Which one makes you feel better?) My point is this, we cannot and will not have a true relationship with God if we are not living for Him. This means doing away with all the ways of the world. A few examples of the ways of the world is dating, disobeying, lying, steeling, hating, cussing, etc... Nobody is perfect. That is why Jesus died for us. But if you try your hardest to honor God in all that you do, you will be surprised at what you can accomplish. So are you ready to live for the Lion of Judah? Are you ready for a revival in the youth of our days? Will you be ready for Him when He returns? Our goal is that when we go to Heaven, God will say to us, "Well done, my good and faithful servant." So read your Bible and pray every day. The special time set apart in your day to read your Bible and Pray is called your "Quiet Time". It will strengthen you greatly in the Lord and will help you draw nearer and nearer to Him each moment in the Day. - Written by Cassie Rose Camoriano, the founder of This Generation Ministry
