It's so quiet around here

Without all the neighborhood kids out and about! Public school started today and we're going to celebrate "Not-back-to-school Day" by getting frosties at Wendy's.

This week we've had a lot of fun making fall leaves - I'll add pics soon.  We decorated foam leaves with jewels!  On friday we'll be making leaf rubbings to go with our unit on "fall."   The kids also spent 2 hours making paper chains and making medieval puches to store their belongnings!  They are really getting into art this year.

September we are also going to work on our Nutrition unit, and build parts of our food pyramid every week.  It's so exciting to delve into things that we've never studied before.  B has retained soooo much more than I thought from SL Core K that we are combining preK and K into one year.  P is keeping up wonderfully.  I am really impressed at her abilities!

Next year the plan is Winterpromise American Story 1.   B will be in 2nd grade, P in K.  I think they will be able to handle it beautifully.  That is of course if I don't lose my patience and end up sending B to ps! Lately it's been a drama around here.

We were busy this weekend redecorating our downstairs.  I repainted the kitchen and dining room from a light tan color to a dark brown/gray color, and accented it with the opposite walls being an antique white.  It looks awesome.  I also painted the "big" wall in our family room a dark dark red.  It looks great too!  We hung dark red curtains on the 4 windows and got red and tan accent pillows for the dk brown leather couches - oh and the rug! It's sooooo pretty!  We got the tv hung up on the wall and some pretty accessories for the table - I almost can't believe that I live here! lol
My momma also came to visit this weekend and the kids had so much fun with her.  C cried and cried when she left a little while ago.  They love their Bugga.

Ohh, Frosties! I want one! I had a friend who used to do a family picnic at the park the first day of public school. I loved those ideas, I'm always too disorganized for a picnic. Frosties I can do!

I hope your Frosty was tasty!

Your redecorating job sounds lovely.

We also have Grandma Day. It allows for errand running and paperwork catch-up. Grandmas are such a blessing!
