Today was the second day of "school" at my house for the 2009-10 school year. I have been impressed so far by the smooth transition we are making from the lazy days of summer; although 6:30 is coming way to early in the morning for my preference. This year our family is embarking on a new journey. Through a very good friend, I was turned on to the Tapestry of Grace curriculum. I absolutely love it! If I had been taught this way as a youngster, I would have paid much closer attention. The classical style of education makes more sense to me than the traditional style. I understand that for some, the traditional style is adequate and maybe even preferable, but this style just makes sense to my "out of the box" brain. I am hoping my three children will enjoy it as much as I am. For the record, I am teaching, three children: Tori/9th grade dd; Halie/8th grade dd; and Branden/7th grade ds. Their closeness in age makes it easy to teach the classical method since they all study the same thing just on different levels.
I have decided to return to the "blog" so that I can keep a record of the ups, downs and in-betweens of the school year. As many of you reading, I always intend to write it all down so I will remember one day, but it never seems to make it from my head to the pen & paper. So today is the first day and hopefully there will be many more.
