Oklahoma Public Educators Demand Apology

Oklahoma Rep. Wallace Collins, attempted to make a joke about his poor public school education while on the house floor.  His remark has public educators angry and they demand an apology.  He of course if refusing to apologize as his remark was not meant to the full extent that the Association of Professional Oklahoma Educators is taking it. 

A little touchy these public educators.  I think Rep. Collins has struck a nerve.  Could it be that there is at least a grain of truth in what was said?

It could be that the teachers are touchy because they know that they are producing inferior students despite the abundence of funds supporting them. The good teachers lose out because most parents don't get on board and the bad teachers keep on because, "hey, if your kid's stupid, it isn't our fault."

Does it occur to anyone that they might be a bit touchy because they CARE about education and works countless hours and spend their own time, money and resources to teach these kids in public schools? Because people are putting them down without knowing how hard they really work? Because you are stereotyping and don't take the time to get to know individual teachers... you just criticize them as a whole? Because they care about their students and only want what is best and will do anything it takes to make sure their students learn in a healthy, positive environment? Instead of judging, why don't you go and take the time to meet some of the literally millions of teachers who ARE doing an excellent job teaching the kids in the public schools? Have any of you ever done that? Maybe go visit some schools and get to know and observe these teachers? Or would that be too much work for you... and you might be scared that your mass stereotyping might be proven wrong? I invite you to my school ANY day to see how the kids are being taught, how the school is run and how much the teachers care about the kids. Will any of you take me up on my invitation? I am guessing no... because you just like to sit back and bash teachers and schools with no firsthand knowledge of how they work. It takes a hero to stand up for what they believe when they are educated about what they are standing up for... it takes a coward to sit and call names but never take the time to get to know the other side of the story. Which one are you?

I have a blog at homeschoolblogger.com called thouartjust and I can sign in and add entries but if I click on View Blog this message comes up

Could not perform this operation because the default mail client is not properly installed.

I have no idea what this all means but thought I should forward it to you so you would know what to do to correct the situation.

I am totally unable to view my comments or my blog page out of the editing mode. If I try to type thouartjust into the search box the same message comes up and if I type in homeschoolblogger.com/thouartjust
Again the same message tells me is unavailable. I would appreciate if you can let me know what the problem is in case I am doing something incorrectly. I have given the address to friends and they cannot go there either. Thank you for any help you can give me in this matter. I have written before but never received an answer back.
