Posted in Recipes

The summer is over.....it's a beach!

Karon Beach, Phuket

This is the "It's a Beach - Summer is Over" Edition of the always fabulous Recipe Carnival.  As our fruits and vegetables begin to wither on the vine, the end of summer brings lots of creative recipes......many using those backyard garden left-overs.  But before hitting the kitchen, enjoy one last look at some beautiful beaches around the world, and sip a bit of tea as you read through this week's recipes.

Hillsborough Bay, Grenada

Beverages & Appetizers:

Stay healthy for future vacations with Avocado on the Menu sent in by Disease Proof, who includes three avocado recipes!

Los Cabos, Mexico

Main Dishes:

In the Headlights shares Comfort Foods .....something we all need when we settle into our September routines.

The absolute best recipes have no exact recipe!  But Gary at Foodies Across Borders does an excellent job of recreating his delectable creation:   Simple Penne Alfredo with Beef Tenderloin

Mead's Bay, St. Martin

Side Dishes:

A Weight Lifted sends an easy recipe for 24 Hour Cole Slaw .....I'm all for easy recipes and continued relaxation!

Freezer Cole Slaw is a way to clean out your end-of-the-summer garden suggests Meanderings .

Triticale  shares an excellent recipe to use those green tomatoes hanging from your withering vine to make Green Tomato Enchilada Sauce .

Kicking Over My Traces welcomes the coming cooler days with Baking Powder Biscuits .

Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

Condiments:

Chris Quimby laments the torture of waiting “ In A Pickle”!

Hot Pepper Jelly is another great way to use left over garden vegetables.

Sunset Beach, Oahu

Desserts

The Wacky Hermit from the Organic Baby Farm tempts us with Fresh Peach Cobbler .

El Capitan at Baboon Pirates found a real treasure with his Fresh Apple Cake !

Mouth-watering Biscotti (in several variations) sent in by Technogypsy could be served as dessert or a meal for me!

Everything and Nothing suggests finishing with a Frozen Margarita Strawberry Pie ..... a special summer delight for the end of summer picnics and parties.

South Beach, Miami

Misc.

And here’s a way to protect your secret recipe files for free thanks to American Inventor

Thanks for your end-of-the summer visit ...... school starts September 5th here, so NO MORE beach vacations for a little while!  Comments always welcome!
