Education, Good Books and Growth

The aim of education should be rather to teach us how to think, than what to think. - James Beattie
The man who does not read good books has no advantage over the man who cannot read them. - Mark Twain
The fatal metaphor of progress, which means leaving things behind us, has utterly obscured the real idea of growth, which means leaving things inside us. - G.K. Chesterton

Thank you, thank you! I had been looking for a new quote for my tag line! Glad you liked the photo of the albino pygmies...they were pretty cute!

Now those are some cool quotes! I love quotes. My newest one is::
One is not old until regrets take the place of dreams.
I love it and I live by it but I am not sure who said it. I saw it on a billboard once. I am just getting back to normal with Nathan and the spider bites and all. I have been hectic on the not so frantic days and panicked on the frantic days. Ya know? So can I still post a recipe. I make a killer seafood alfredo if you are interested still. Thanks for inviting me to post one even though it was a little late.

I LOVE Mark Twain. He has some of the best and funniest quotes ever.
I haven't started my commonplace book yet since I've been reading the How to Read a Book and TWEM, but NOW that we are staring Gilgamesh, I'm starting my notebook. Can't wait. Could you tell me what else you put in your commonplace book? Do you write your book notes in it as well? Thanks!

Personally, I reserve my commonplace book just for quotes, inspiring poems, or meaningful Scripture verses.
