School Days Begin But Vacation Memories Win
Posted in Travel
|
Yes, we are finally back to our school routine. Vacationing while most kids are in school is only one of the advantages we've discovered while homeschooling our children. One year we packed our books and spent 6 weeks of Jan/February on the beach in Florida....a long way from chilly IL.
We studied the geography of the isthmus where we visited:

The moon's gravity and tidal effects:

The flora and fauna of coastal hammocks, and marine life:

Buoyancy, surface tension, and forces in motion:

OK....maybe that one was a stretch!
Today is cloudy and rainy here in Illinois, but our memories dwell on our recent family trip together. Although today we pencil in our math calculations, correct grammar and spelling, our winsome thoughts are still on the lake.

Time to start planning our next educational getaway soon!

There is no way you look like you are old enough to be a grandma. Lucky girl you have it all. I love your vacation posts, I thought I was on the boat with you. Those are great memories and family time that builds better kids. What I like about vacations is that we discover things that we can learn with. God's world is just so awesome to discover. Thanks for the pictures.

We love vacationing while the other kids are in school, too! We usually go down to Branson and stay in a condo and love it! Thanks for visiting my blog....you have lots of great pictures, too!

I know for sure that Silverleaf's Ozark Mountain Resort in Kimberling City (about 20 minutes from Branson but only about 10 minutes from Silver Dollar City) has a boat dock that is available to guests for free. First come, first served. That's the only one that we've stayed at that I know for sure has one. It's very family friendly but only has one outdoor pool...no indoor one. It's a timeshare though, so you may need access to RCI in order to stay there, but not sure. They also have a mini golf course and a nice game room. Other than that, I'm sure that there's lots of other resorts around Kimberling City that would have great lake access. We usually go every year, since it's only 3 hours from home. Unfortunately, we don't have a boat yet, so we don't spend much time on the lake.
