Stratton Mt. Village shopping with old friends:  or should that be "friends of old"?

These are the original five friends who roomed together _?_ years ago....let's say many years ago.   We respond to ridiculous nicknames that have remained amongst us:  Puddy,  Needle Nose, Smooch, Tubs, and Jewels,  in no particular order as none of us will own up to our "affectionate name".

Fun, frivolity, food, folly, and fellowship only begin to describe our weekend of shared friendship.  After pondering our time together,  I've added some quotes to my  Commonplace Book which will remind me of our precious time together.

Friendship makes prosperity more shining and lessens adversity by dividing and sharing it.
Cicero, On Friendship, 44 B.C.

Be courteous to all, but intimate with few, and let those few be well tried before you give them your confidence. True friendship is a plant of slow growth, and must undergo and withstand the shocks of adversity before it is entitled to the appellation.
George Washington
First president of US (1732 - 1799)
Go through your phone book, call people and ask them to drive you to the airport. The ones who will drive you are your true friends. The rest aren't bad people; they're just acquaintances.
Jay Leno
US comedian & television host (1950 - )
There isn’t much better in this life than finding a way to spend a few hours in conversation with people you respect and love. You have to carve this time out of your life because you aren’t really living without it.
Real Live Preacher
There was a definite process by which one made people into friends, and it involved talking to them and listening to them for hours at a time.
Rebecca West
Irish critic, journalist, & novelist (1892 - 1983)
When someone allows you to bear his burdens, you have found deep friendship.

I have just copied the George Washington quote for my kids to use as copywork and memory next week. Thank you! It is so relevant to our situation right now.
