Do You Need Help With Geometry?

Posted in Homeschool

Recommended by many classical home educators:

Jacob's Geometry (revised 3rd edition):

1) Exploration and Discovery - short lessons followed by a sequence of exercises allows students to learn as they go, developing understanding through practice; the motivation and gentle step-by-step approach is especially effective.

(2) More focus on informal and paragraph proofs reflecting current NCTM standards, so students can develop their deductive reasoning and problem-solving skills.

(3) Definitions, Proofs and Theorems are streamlined to make them accessible to a broad range of students without compromising their mathematical integrity.

(4) Examples and Exercises - more diverse examples from around the world and 75% exercises are new.

(5) Algebra reviews and SAT problems included.

(6) Reference tools in the student text and Geometers Sketchpad projects in the teacher's guide.

Topics include: nature of deductive reasoning, lines & angles, congruent triangles, inequalities, quadrilaterals, transformations, area, symmetry, circle, concurrence, polygons, geometric solids, and non-Euclidean Geometries.

And now there is a  NEW instructional DVD  available to help homeschool families struggling with geometry.   This could be the solution for those of us who have become D.I.V.E. - dependent!

I have heard that the Jacob's math was good. I will probably look into it when my next one gets there. My only concern is that they have Alg. 1, but not 2, so I didn't know what I would switch to if they got used to using a certain program. Well, I have a while still until the next one!
Thanks for the tip on the books changing. I will look for the ones we don't have yet.

I've heard some good things about Jacob's Geometry from 2 friends who have used it for all of their high school aged children. Thanks for posting this.
