Unstuffed Cabbage

1 lb. lean ground beef

1 c. chopped onion

1/2 medium-sized head green cabbage (~8 cups)

28 oz can crushed tomatoes or stewed tomatoes

1 T. packed light brown sugar

1 T distilled white vinegar

1/2 tsp. salt.

Brown beef and drain.  Add onions and cook over medium-high heat 5 to 6 minutes, stirring often.  Add cabbage, cover and cook another 5 to 7 minutes; stirring occasionally until the cabbage wilts.   Stir in tomatoes, sugar, vinegar and salt.  Bring to boil, reduce heat, cover and simmer for about 10 minutes or until cabbage is tender.
