Homeschooling Made Easy

Sep. 21, 2009 - Finally picking up speed.

Last night Big Daddy told me to have todays schedule written down for him and he'd feed the kids breakfast and get them started on school lessons. I'm exhausted from being sick last week. So I didn't hesitate to take him up on his offer.
So I slept in and he got the day started. The kids had their breakfast was doing their Spelling. After which I ran them through their Multiplication drills. We then moved on to Science vocabulary. Once they were done I had Princess read me two Dr. Seuss books. Then we broke for lunch. After lunch I gave them a hour to play outside since it was cloudy and it turned out to be the right move. It's pouring now.
After rec time, we got back to lessons. I had Recycler and Princess read from the Primary Bible reader and then we did the second activity for the Multiplication Pizza Party lapbook. Even Monkey got into the mix shouting out numbers to the multiplication sentences. She has no idea about multiplication but wanted to join in.
Now they are all doing their copywork and the day will be over. Monkey is really frustrated that she can't write like her brother and sister. She wants to be older so bad. So I gave her two sentences to copy so she'd feel included in the copywork today. She's doing really well too. Since she already knew how to write each letter I figured what better way to learn sentence structure and word formation without really "learning" about them.
I feel great knowing that we got something accomplished today. Tomorrow is Terrific Tuesday and my first official class (since I was sick last week) and I am psyched. September has gotten off to a rocky start and I'm behind in Ancient civilizations and Apologia, but I can deal with it. I'll just do Septembers activities in October and move on from there.
