TOS Homespun Holidays E-Book Review

I just got finished reviewing the TOS Homespun Holidays E-Book that I was asked to review and oh my was I pleased!  It was so good I couldn’t stop till I was finished reviewing it in one sitting.  I cannot wait till it is available for purchase!

Pretty, practical and poetic…

This book hit all my senses!  I could see the pumpkins and Christmas Trees and wreaths, feel the fall air and the snowy winter that I miss from Oklahoma, smell the change of seasons and the pumpkin, wassail and peppermint.  I could taste the delicious mountain cookies and the soups and the candies.  I could hear the joy of families working, playing and worshiping together.

This book satisfied the planner, the cook, the craft lover, the decorator, the sentimentalist, the teacher, the poet and the love of Jesus in me.  Not only do I want to own this book, I want to gift it out to everyone who loves these things as much as I do.

I plan to have each of my children pick out one craft and one recipe each for us to do during the upcoming Holiday Season.  The ideas were absolutely sensational!

I also loved the idea that they placed the recipes both in eye-pleasing manner in the body of the book and also in a practical easy-to-read/print manner at the back…how helpful is that?!?

Thank you for the opportunity to experience this on this early Sunday morning before all the family is awake.  What a lovely start to my day!

Let's see how this goes........
Ok, this is my all time first ever blog and it won't be as imaginative and creative as others I've seen out there.  So just bear with me and I'll get through this

We're well into our school year now and it is turning out to be one of our top two best years so far!  (I am not saying that all the other years were colossol failures, just that this one is extra nice so far).  I am officially teaching my youngest child now, which means that I am teaching five kids at five different levels.  Thank goodness for Unit Study

Over at our house, we have tried everything from creating the public/parochial school classroom of my youth all the other way around to "flying by the seat of our pants".  Oh boy, neither of those worked at all! Over the past few years we have settled comfortably between the two.  A schedule with room for flexibility.  That's what works best for us.

As far as what part of the house it all occurs in, that has changed with the years as well.  I like the dining room table a LOT.  It is in the heart of our home and I can run a household while schooling and that is good for me.  We use the school room for curriculum storage and for computer use and an whenever the white board is needed.  We use the living room floor, couches, etc for Bible and History read-alouds...which is ALL of my kids hands-down favorite! We're really having a good time for the most part.

All that to say that in my "is this year going well, how should I adjust it?" musings, I have decided to leave well enough alone...yippee!
