Well as of 8:00 am today our sisters JanineB and MonicaB headed to Belieze with 23 other members from BFBC on a 10 day mission trip to Roaring Creek. I had the pleasure of taking my niece SS to the airport;also a part of the group, which was a thrill for me to do. "No really!"
At 5:00 am the group assembled at the church along with family to pray and give them a bit of a send off. For both ladies this is their 2nd trip to Roaring Creek, and this year MB has both of her children along, this wiill create some very special memories for them. Both ladies have taken a leadership roll with the group, and so they will be looked to for some extra guidance from the group.
May we pray for the 2 of them that in the days ahead and in dealing with larger groups, and many things being asked, that God would extend to them both a little extra grace, patience and wisdom as they work with the team and the community.
My niece SS was so excited, this is her first mission trip and her first time traveling outside of Canada, without a family member with her. No sleep for her last night or myself as I am truly over joyed by how she's embraced this opportunity and what God's doing in her life right now. I know this will be a truly life changing event and Praise Jesus for His Grace.
The traffic was minimal over to Richmond but all safely pulled up to the International Terminal at YVR at 5:40. By 6:50 they had all picked up their boarding passes and proceeded through the Duty Free, to head through customs, and to their gate where they would wait to board for the first leg of their flights.
It was a rainy and gray morning when we headed to the airport, but as I drove back across the Pitt River Bridge at 8:00 (at the set departure time for the groups flight) the sky started to break and the sun began to shine through. I thought, "How Wonderful Lord! What a fitting way for the groups trip to the mission fields to begin."
The group will be landing in Huston today where they will spend the evening having a team meeting and devotional time. Tomorrow morning bright and early they will head through internation customs again and continue on the 2nd part of their journey to the city of Balmopan, Belize and form there a drive to Roaring Creek where they will spend 9 days in the field working with the community on a variety of projects.
So let us keep the group in our hearts and prayers over the next 10 days. Praying God will do a mighty work through them while they are in His service in Belieze.
As for me, back home to snooze for a couple hours, as I spent the evening up most of the night with a very excited 16yr old. Managed to take the day off, which was great. With the sun shining and time off to relaxe I wondered down to the dyke's for a walk and time to pray, reflect and enjoy the warmth of the sun.
