Part Twelve
DO I DO WHAT I KNOW MY HUSBAND WOULD WANT ME TO DO, EVEN WHEN HE IS NOT WITH ME, OR WHEN HE HAS NOT CLEARLY SPECIFIED HIS WISHES IN A PARTICULAR SITUATION?
"The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil." Proverbs 31:11
"Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin." James 4:17
DO I INVEST THOUGHT, TIME, AND ENERGY IN PLEASING MY HUSBAND?
"There is difference also between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman careth for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit: but she that is married careth for the things of the world, how she may please her husband." 1 Corinthians 7:34
"She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness." Proverbs 31:27
DO MY ACTIONS SHOW KINDNESS AND A PROPER ESTEEM AND HONOR FOR MY HUSBAND?
"Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves." Philippians 2:3
"And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you; And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. And be at peace among yourselves." 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13
"Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband." Ephesians 5:33
DO MY FACIAL EXPRESSIONS AND GESTURES SHOW HONOR FOR MY HUSBAND?
"A man's wisdom maketh his face to shine; and the boldness of his face shall be changed." Ecclesiastes 8:1b
"The show of their countenance doth witness against them; and they declare their sin as Sodom, they hide it not. Woe unto their soul! for they have rewarded evil unto themselves." Isaiah 3:9
"And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen? If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door." Genesis 4:6-7a
"These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: a proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood..." Proverbs 6:16-17
DO I TREAT MY HUSBAND THE SAME WAY AT HOME AS I DO IN PUBLIC?
"Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good." Romans 12:9
"Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal." 1 Corinthians 13:1
DO I SEEK AND VALUE HIS OPINIONS?
"The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise." Proverbs 12:15
"The heart of the prudent getteth knowledge; and the ear of the wise seeketh knowledge." Proverbs 18:15
"Counsel in the heart of man is like a deep water; but a man of understanding will draw it out." Proverbs 20:5
"Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety." Proverbs 11:14
DO I EXERCISE DISCRETION IN MY BEHAVIOR WITH OTHER MEN?
"That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour." 1 Thessalonians 4:4
"Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life." Proverbs 4:23
"Abstain from all appearance of evil." 1 Thessalonians 5:22
And that concludes my study on a godly wife. Although this is only about a quarter of the way through the book, I hope that it was enough to wet your appetites to rent this book from the library or to find a place to purchase the book for yourselves so that you may finish the study.
Book Title: As Unto the Lord A Tool for Wives Who Want to Glorify God Author: Pam Forster ISBN: 1-891206-16-8
It is in my prayers that many will seek out this book and study themselves approved unto God. That they will fill their role as a godly wife and serve, honor and reverence their husbands.
Thank you for joining me on this delightful and needed journey,
In Him
