A song...
Posted in Music
Well here's a song that Grace sang on Saturday in the talent show. I looked up the words and music.
It's a scottish dance tune.
| Lyrics: |
Chorus:
Step we gaily on we go,
heel and heel
and toe for toe
arm and arm
and row and row
all for Marie's wedding
Over hillways, up and own,
Myrtle green and bracken brown
Past the sheilings, through the town
all for the sake of Marie.
Chorus
Red her cheeks as Rowan's are,
Bright her eyes as any star.
Fairest of them all by far,
Is our darling Marie.
Chorus
Plenty herring, plenty meal,
Plenty peat to fill her kreel,
Plenty bonnie bairns as well,
That's the toast for Marie.
Chorus (repeat several times) |
Music for Marie's wedding
Anyway I really like that song!

Hmmmmm,
You should go look at the havoc that's been reeked on Alex's blog. *snickers* serves him right for not posting in forever. Just take a look at his coments.

It's an amazing song! I don't even remember where I heard it any more! But I haven't known it for very long...
The best (one of the best) part is that it goes with that dance!

Oh, I love Mairi's wedding! It's such a fun song. I didn't know you played violin either! Did you play something for the talent show? I wish I could have been there, but I decided to go to an orchestra concert instead. Oh well, it had to be one or the other.
I have been in an orchestra for the past semester and a half . It's this one: http://www.cysaustin.info/.
Yes, I believe an Irish whistle is the same as a tin whistle. I just like calling it an Irish whistle because it sounds prettier. ;)
Thanks for visiting!
See you sometime soon, hopefully!
