Hello, I am a bit remiss on posting my review of Homeschooling Methods by Paul & Gena Suarez. Due to all the doctor appointments and outpatient surgeries of my children, I was able to read through the book twice. There is so much information in it that reading it through twice is great!
The book is divided into chapters that describe the various different methods of homeschooling. What I particularly enjoyed about each chapter was that there were articles written by experts in that area of homeschooling. Of course, I read Jessica Hulcy's chapter on using the unit study approach right off the bat.
There is also a wonderful chapter by Dr. Ruth Beechick. Her style and method of learning encourages life-long learning.
I was also very touched to read the chapters by the Moores. I use some of their philosophy in my homeschool in that I will ask the children what they are interested in learning about and incorporate it into our lessons.
I also learned more about the Classical Method of education. I thought I knew what it was, but after I read the chapter on it, I realized there was a lot that I did not know.
If you are new to homeschooling, and even if you are not, this book is a great resource for knowing what the different types of homeschooling are and how they work.
I am selling this book through my online homeschool business, and it is available on Amazon.com as well.
Have a blessed day! Tami
May. 16, 2006 - Intresting!
Sound very intresting! I will have to save some of my homeschooling money and pick up the book. I am just starting in the homeschooling journey so it would be intrestiing to see what other people do.

I loved that book, I borrowed it out and I miss using it as a reference. Towards the back was acouple that read novels with their children and they learned that way. I am trying to read more as some of my kids do not like bookwork. I am hoping they will all love to read and get more curious about things. The beauty of this book is you can incorprate any of the methods that may work for your child. Thanks to the authors for sharing their knowledge with us.

I keep reading lots of reviews of this book. I am going to have to break down and buy a copy :) I have a huge booklist I want to buy. Maybe I can talk Doug into adding onto our school budget to buy books for ME lol....
Thanks for the review :)

May. 18, 2006 - Thanks for stopping by my blog!
I've read many good reviews of this book too! I didn't think I "needed" it, but I'm beginning to be persuaded that I should get it anyway!
P.S. Thanks for your encouragement about moving to Indy! :)

Sounds like a good book. With each of my children and tons of friends whom homeschool differently it's nice to know different methods. Also sounds like a good one to borrow out to new homeschoolers.
Thanks for the review on it.
Blessings,
