Don't you just love reading with your children in the summer? I know I do. We are currently reading "Little Town on the Prairie." But I expect that we will finish it this week. We only have 2 chapters to go! We started reading the "Little House" series in November, along with using the Prairie Primer. And the children enjoy it more and more each day.
One chapter this week covered Laura's whole summer vacation when she was 15 years old. She said she would remember it as the summer she studied. She wanted to take and pass the teacher certification test when she turned 16, so she could help pay for Mary's college tuition. She mentioned that she did not go to the town's 4th of July celebration that summer, because she wanted to stay home and study the Constitution while she watched Grace.
Another series I would like to read outloud with my children is the "Chronicles of Narnia" series. We may wait a couple of years to do that one. I think I am ready to go back to reading only one book that goes along with a unit study. I know that "A Secret Garden" is slated for our outloud reading next year during our orderliness unit from KONOS.
Have a blessed day! Tami
