A fashion comment........

Hello, Dear Ones, have you noticed how today's women's fashions do not accentuate the womanly body God gave us? The low cut jeans and pants are so low on the hips, that I notice the lovely curve of the waist is not flattered. In most cases, it hangs over the top of the pants. And I saw an ad on TV over the week-end that promote women's jeans cut like men's jeans. Does this make sense to you????

Now I am not a totally dresses-only person. I do wear skirts and dresses in favor of jeans and pants most of the time. But in the winter, I like to have pants or jeans on to keep warm. (I don't like tights or hose.) I do try to dress modestly and feminely. It's a good thing I like to shop at Goodwill. I can usually find pants and jeans in the style that I like. :-)

Any more comments on fashion that you would like to share?

Have a blessed day! Tami

Hi Tami, I agree with the unattractiveness of the new fashions, especially the ones made for juniors and young adults. What bothers me most is how immodest they are. Except for a brief period in my teens, I've always tried to dress modestly yet feminine. I love shopping at thrift stores because I can usually find older styles that are still modest. Sometimes when wanting new clothes the womens sections of department stores will have good things. My husband even found me some nice clothes that were modest and stylish, and got me to like wearing fuscia as a color. I have a five year old daughter who I've already taught to appreciate pretty clothes and be modest at the same time. I'm amazed at how she notices girls her own age that are dressed immodestly. Ever notice how even the clothes for young girls are innappropriately styled to make them look like little adults?

This is such a great topic I thought I'd post this at my own blog as well. Maybe between our two blogs we can encourage the other women! Thanks!

Thanks for visiting. You are very correct in your assesment of dress. It's sad actually. It's sad because it undermines the true beauty of the individual and promotes an attraction based on shallow, fleshly things that have no foundation in aything other than self gratification..........if that makes any kind of sense. As a guy I can tell you two important problems with this. First, younger men (and some older ones too, I'm sure) do not need any more temptation to their flesh than already exists. Second, immodest dress just isn't that attractive to someone looking for something more meaningfull than "eye candy." I am thankful for my wife and while she is the most outwardly beautiful woman I've ever laid eyes upon, it's who she IS that really "seals the deal."We've explained to our 13 year old daughter that God gave her her body not for "show and tell" purposes but to Glorify Him by preserving that purity for the man God created her for. We even have said prayers for this man....whoever and wherever he is. Modesty, in our opinion, has farther reaching implications than just the immediate humility issues. It's about recognizing that we are not our own. Thet's awl I guttsay bout thet.

I appreciate your thoughts on fashion.
It is a challenge shopping for my dughters clothing. I can also see how it will be a challenge for my sons when they are in public : 0
Modesty is so imporatant to be taught to little girls when they are very young.
I am like you, I like to wear dresses and skirts but tend to favor pants in the colder temps.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. I do have awesome neighbors.

Be blessed today!
Maria

that I do not feel qualified to comment. :-) At the moment, I am wearing my favorite thrift-shop pants and a blouse I purchased to wear to the office - um - er - about 12 years ago.

I totally agree with you about the fashion industry.

On my website, www.naiadomare.com , I've tried to include clothes for all types of women with feminine tastes because they are all beautiful, not just the typical androgynous models we see on the TV!

Thanks for the blog and regards from Spain.
