I have one of each. And while they are separated by 13 years in age, they have similarities. They both are independent and want to "do it myself." They do not like to be told, "no." And they prefer to learn things on their own.
Right now, my 15-year-old is asleep on our sofa. She had all of her wisdom teeth cut out this morning. She is very dependent on me today for her food and drinks and medication. She is happiest with her favorite quilt and pillow, and she reminds me so of that two-year-old she once was when she is sleeping.
And my current two-year-old is asleep in his room. He has his favorite blanky and pillow, too. And when he is awake, he is dependent on me or one of his older brothers to get him a drink or food. And he requires diaper changing, too.
They both need a lot of love and tender loving care today, and I am so blessed to be home with them to provide that.
My teenager is also fortunate that she does not work outside the home, so she is not missing work, nor does she have the pressure to get back to work in a few days. She also does not have the pressure of falling behind in school while she is recuperating. I have scheduled her to be off from school for the rest of the week. As she is able, she can continue reading her books that go along with her history lesson, but if she does nothing but rest and recuperate this week, then we will start fresh with her next week on her lessons.
I should mention what my 3 middle boys are doing right now. They are working together at the kitchen table on craft projects. They are having an enjoyable time together. I think I will go join them, even though I really could use a nap!
Have a blessed day! And enjoy your children today!
Tami
