It's a boy!!

I know it has been forever since i posted!  Life has been so busy!  First piece of news is I had a baby boy on monday  (sept 10th) at 5:30 pm.  His name is Isaac Soren and he weighed 6lbs 6 oz.  He is an amazing baby!  he is only 5 days old and already slept for 4 straight hours last night.  I feel great today hehe.    The kids really love their brother.  Toby is taking some time to adjust but he is starting to come around.  Jules is over the moon and constantly wants to hold him.

As far as schooling, Jules started kindergarten on Aug 1st.  We started a month early this year because of needing to take a break for baby.  This year we are working on "learning language arts through literature blue book", math u see, The world God made for science, explode the code and a book on maps. Jules is really enjoying everything!  We will break for a couple weeks to get adjusted to being a family of five and then start up again.

Well I'm going to cut this short as i've typed this with one hand and i'm getting sore.  i'll try to add updated pictures soon.

Wow a new entry!

Amazing!   I've been so stinking busy or just lazy..  I had my ultrasound on the 25th.. Only one baby in there but healthy and I'm happy.  I've been feeling okay with all the blood pressure stuff. My only problem now is the heartburn which makes me think it's a girl cuz Jules was the one who gave me heartburn and Toby didn't at all.    I don't know.. we didn't/couldn't find out the sex so we will have to wait til September to find out.
As for school..  Jules finished her phonics book today.. She still has about 19 pages in her math and quite a few pages in her explode the code book but I would say we will be done before this month is over.  I'm glad she is done of the phonics book.  It has taught her ALOT of stuff but it was really challenging for her so i'm glad we get a break from it.

I also ordered her new books today..  I ordered Learning Language arts through literature blue box, The world God made science, Explode the code 1,2 and 3 and two canada map books.  I'm excited to get them but the store I ordered them from had to order them so it will take about two weeks to get them all in.  oh well, we won't be ready to start until the fall anyway.. and with the baby coming, we may be taking an extended break.

Twins?????

I had a doctor's appointment today. It was interesting... First of all, I'm supposed to be 13 weeks and i'm measuring 16-18 weeks. Dr tried for the heartbeat and found it and then moved it around to see if he heard any other heartbeats, he found another one about 1.5-2 inches from the other one. It was faint and had the same rhythm as the first one so he said it was "probably" the same heartbeat. He said he wouldn't rule out twins but he thought that there was only one baby in there. HA!  He also said we would have to just wait until my ultrasound to know for sure!  That's not until APRIL 25th!!!!!  Bah I don't wanna wait that long!!  Oh and my blood pressure was 140/100 and my urine is testing positive for protein and keytones!  Anyway, doctor wants to see me in 10 days for another BP check and said I may have to go on blood pressure meds!  He also said he would try and hear the heartbeat again.  I'm really nervous about the blood pressure thing because I was put on bedrest when I was pregnant with Jules because of it.  It really sucked but I didn't have 2 kids back then.. I don't know what i'll do if I have to go on bedrest this time.  So please pray with me that my body does what it is supposed to do!!  Also please pray that I can get the confirmation on the twins thing.

As for Julianna's schooling.. the kids spent the day at their nanny's today, thankfully I had the foresight to bring her schoolbooks with her so we were able to do school today at nanny's house.  Nanny and Grampa D were very impressed on how well she is reading her BOB books.  I'm proud of her.  I think she was a little proud of herself too.

Julianna's newest word now is Awesome.  She says it about everything and I have to say it's DARN CUTE!   Hee hee.  Toby's newest thing now is "no I self"  and he wants to do EVERYTHING himself.  It can drive me crazy at times when it's cold outside and he's struggling to get himself up into the van but it's easier to let him do it than listening to him cry when I do it for him.  Although sometimes I can say "No mommy self" and he is like "oh mommy self okay"  hee hee.

anyway, it's past the kids bedtime, Jeff's working late and Toby is playing with his trucks on the couch with just a soggy diaper on so I guess I better get back to mommy mode and change him and get them both to bed.  Jules wants to gargle water and spit it in the sink when she brushes her teeth.. Oh the things that kids find fun!

In Loving Memory...

Yesterday I received news that my dear friend Jen's baby boy passed away on Saturday evening.  Andrew Joshua was just over a month old.  He was born at 29 weeks and was loved completely by soo many people.  He has touched so many lives in his tiny life.  He was truly an Angel sent from Heaven and now he is perfect in Jesus' arms.  We will always remember him.  Please be praying for Jen, Josh and Haley (Andrew's big sister 2 years old) as they make it through this week and the weeks to come.  Jen has had an amazing attitude with all of this and her faith in God has touched me in an amazing way.  Love you baby Andrew.  Have fun with Jesus.

Big News!

Hey all..

Finally I can announce this.  We have been waiting for my mom to get here so we could tell her in person.  We are having another baby!!  Sometime around the end of september!  I really wanted to have another fall baby!  We are very excited to have a new little one joining our family and making Toby a big brother!

In other news, my sisters wedding is on saturday so we are taking the week off of school so that we can be free to drop and go do things as needed.

Anyway, i'm pretty tired all the time and I think since Toby is napping, i'm going to go lay down and rest.  (plus Jules wants to watch a movie on the computer)

Deb Tagged me! lol

So Deb tagged me.. I need to say 6 things that are weird about me.. hmm that shouldn't be too hard...  I asked Jeff about this and he said, only six?  LOL

1.  When I bend my arm a certain way,  it looks like it's broken.

2.  I'd have as many children as Jeff would let me!

3.  I fell out of a car going 40-50 kph when I was 11 months old and never got a scratch on me.

4. I've had the same ear rings in my ear for 7.5 years

5. I hate to clean

6.Once when I was 15 I slept for 17 hours straight.

There, that was hard!!  I will have to do the picture one later... oh and I have to tag some people... here's my people...   Linda, Stefanie,   and Emily

oh here's a funny/embarrassing story.  Jeff was just asking Jules what she wanted to be when she grew up and she said that she wanted to be a mommy.  So Jeff asked her what she would do when she is a mommy and she said oh i get to clean the house and make supper. and Jeff says oh what else? and she says Oh and I get to play on the puter!!  ROFL!  Silly girl.

update

Well, we made it through christmas and it was great!  It's so fun to have children around at christmas time!!!  We now have more toys in our house than the kids know what to do with and it's a battle to get them all cleaned up by the end of the day so we have established (starting today) two clean up times, before/after lunch and before bedtime.  That should keep things managable.  Toby is still learning the clean up game and Jules gets overwelmed quickly (she's alot like her mama) so it helps to have as little toys as possible to clean up.   Anyway.. we started back to school yesterday too.  We got some new books to do (the preschool series of the Rod and Staff curriculum) just before christmas so we started those yesterday too.  They are much too easy for her but she likes them and I think it gives her good practice.  It will be good for Toby when he starts doing formal stuff the fall after he turns three (depending on his personality of course but I'm thinking as of now, he will be ready)

We did school just before lunch today and toby was driving me nuts! He usually is pretty good when we do school but today he just wanted to bug me I guess.  First he kept wanting to color in Julianna's books. He is so eager to do school work LOL I give him his own coloring book to do but he wants nothing to do with it.  Then he takes a crayon and starts coloring one of the little people horses. He has never colored on anything but paper before so it was shocking to me! :frown:  He kept trying to count the mice on Julianna's math book too which is great only, he was putting his hands all over the page and Jules couldn't do anything.  I know that he's learning lots when he watches us but sometimes he wants to get too involved!  I think he will be ready to start doing little things by next fall.. I'll have to find little activities for him to do while we do school.  He did do a pretty cute thing though.  I usually use the eraser end of a pencil to point at things I need to show Jules so he takes a pencil and turns it to the eraser end and he kept pointing at things on the page and saying "there and there and there and there" LOL

anyway, there's an update from me!!

our crisis

Well, we had quite the crisis here today.. I took pictures and video because I'm constantly telling Jules to stop putting her toys in her mouth and today she realized the consequences of her actions and her favorite little mermaid doll had to be the victim! ROFL!  I'm sure you can tell what happened by the pictures!

Santa Claus???

We don't really do Santa Claus here. We decided to celebrate st. nicholas day instead so that Christmas can be all about Jesus.  We also didn't feel right about telling our kids that santa claus was real when he isn't really.   Jules knows he is just pretend and all that. We tell her that other people believe he's real though so she has to pretend too. Well, she's been having a hard time getting that concept and this old guy that hangs out at my dad's asked her one day what santa claus was bringing her and she looked at him in shock like he should have known better and said "santa claus is not real!"   soooo I had to tell her that if anyone ever asks her that again, she should tell them what she wants for christmas. She is doing really well with it now thoughwe had that  meeting on saturday morning and one of the ladies asked her what santa was bringing her and she said a doll and then the lady asked her if she wrote her letter to santa yet (Jules has never heard of doing that!) and Jules was scribbling out some letters at the time and she said "i'm writing it right now! this is it!!"

grade one!!!!!!!

SO I was looking through Julianna's phonic's book today and I realized that she is almost half way done of it.  BUt the other thing I noticed was that at the book covers kindergarten, grade one and grade two work.  At the first of next week she will be starting grade one work.    She hasn't really had any problems with anything that the book has covered so far except figuring out the middle sound of a word like the "i" in pig but she's coming along with that.  sooo I decided to just keep going in the book and take things slow if she has problems.  So my four year old will be starting grade one probably wednesday if we stay on track!! lol

So Tired and St. Nicholas Day

Yes I know I haven't updated this blog in forever. Please forgive me!   I did however add some more recent pictures.  The one of us as a family was taken yesterday and the ones of the kids I took a couple weeks ago.

We have had such a busy week this week.  At the end of last week we were contacted by  Habitat for Humanity  as candidates for the next house build.  Very exciting.  They wanted to meet on monday night so I cleaned ALL day long and later that evening it was snowing quite hard and the meeting was cancelled.  Whew but at least I had a clean house.  The meeting was rescheduled for Thursday afternoon but that was postponed again too so our meeting is tomorrow at 10!  Wednesday was St Nicholas Day so I decided that we would celebrate it with friends. We invited 3 little girls and their moms and baby sister over for a st. nicholas day tea.  One of the mom's brought butter cookie dough so we cut out and decorated cookies.   Here are some pictures of that day.  First thing though, The kids got a few little presents in their stockings.

Cutting the cookies

Toby concentrated really hard on decorating his cookie

And eating it

And Yesterday we decorated the tree so I have pictures from that too.  The kids got really into decorating and Toby was having soo much fun.  This is his first real christmas experiencing everything since he was only 8 months old last christmas.   He was handing me the ornaments and even trying to put them on himself.

I know this one is blurry but I think it looks cool

This was taken RIGHT before he said "NO CHEESE!"  He was tired of me taking pictures and I called his name so I could get one of him looking at the camera.

It's Julianna and Daddy's job to put the star on the top of the tree.  Jules looks forward to this part every year!

And that's the last of the pictures.

As for schooling. We've been doing well.  We are on the second books of both Explode the code and singapore Math.  Jules is enjoying  doing the work and she finds it neat that she can sound out words and figure them out herself.  When she draws she almost always asks me how to spell things so she can "label"  it's cute!  Anyway.. It's been a long week.  Tonight I'm trying Toby out with his matteress on the floor and so I've been up and down the stairs keeping him from bugging his sister too much.  He's finally quite so I'm going to go check on him and then relax in front of the tv for a while.  Jeff's out for the night so it's just me!

A new blog

I've started a new blog but that one will be strictly for my weighloss journey so no worries, I'll still update this one.    My other blog incase you are interested is here   Since there are people out there who can be cruel, I'm switching the access to private so if you would like to read along let me know your email address in the comments so that I can add you to my list of people who are granted access.  I have no problems with any of my friends reading it.. Just want to keep the wacko's out ya know?

Anyway, on to homeschooling... Jules has made some interesting strides.  I think she is ready for art lessons of some kind.  Just don't know how financially we will be able to swing it. Maybe we will save up and start her next fall.  The reason I think she is ready for art lessons is, she has been drawing pictures ALOT lately and her pictures get more and more detailed everytime.  Yesterday I was sitting at the computer and she was drawing behind me.  She kept getting frustrated and asked for a pencil so she could erase things (she was using a pencil crayon)  I asked her what she was drawing and she said she was trying to draw the bag.  She had a dollar store bag in front of her and she was trying to copy the design on paper.  WOW! She did a pretty good job of it too.   She also draws very detailed pictures of her gramma and papa and asks me to email it to them.  Here's her latest creations.

She says some pretty funny things lately too..  Yesterday we were doing an exercise where she had to follow the directions.  I told her to color the picture of the toaster blue.  She looked at it and said "But toasters are supposed to be black.  I'd really like to follow the directions but toasters are supposed to be black"  Needless to say, I let her color it black.  lol  I just picked blue out of the top of my head and really had wanted her to find the picture of the toaster.  too funny.

The beginnings of reading.

Today we worked on the sound pattern -at .   We made a little hat with two slits in it and we slid a feather with different letters through the slits.  We went through it once sounding out the letters really slowly and I helped her a lot and then the next time through she seemed to have figured it out.  She was having a hard time at first cuz she would say the sounds too separately for example buh AT Buh At buh at, but she never put them together.  The second time through it was like a light went off and she realized how to put the sounds together.  I just had to get a video of it!  I'm so proud of her.

Look what we made!!

So I was sitting at my friend Holly's house one day and came up with a plan for a bookshelf for the kids toys.  I was so tired of stuffing everything in the closet and needed some organization.  I also was tired of books falling out of the book shelf because Jules couldn't stand them up straight.  So that night I drew out my idea. The next day (last saturday) I took my plan to my dad's and he helped me create it.  Yesterday I was able to paint it and Dad dropped it off today.  I just need one more green bin to go in the empty space on the bottom (I only got three bins because we had to make one of the cubes a bit smaller than the rest and I wasn't sure that it would fit but it will yay!)  Anyway Thanks to dad I was able to actually create my vision.  It was really fun too.  I love spending time with Dad.    Anyway, here is a picture of it and a few other random pictures.

Toby playing xbox.  His pj's are way too tight!

Toby relaxing on the new couch!

Toby with underwear around his neck.. You can see Julianna laughing her butt off in the background cuz she was the one who put it on him.  She thought it was hilarious. Him?  not so much...

Pretty Jules this morning all ready for church.

new couches!

We got our new couches finally!!!  I'm soo excited!  I feel like a grown up now as we have never had a brand new couch before! whoo hoo!!   Here's a few pictures of it.  We were in the middle of doing Julianna's school work when the delivery guys came so you can see all her school stuff all over the place.

The delivery guy gave me a little scare though.   I had told my brother to come and take our old couch away and he did this morning so our living room was completely empty when the new couches arrived.  The delivery guy did some measuring of the door and stuff and said oh well I need at least 31 inches to bring in the couch and your door frames are only 30 1/4 inches.  So then he started to say that if I really wanted him to bring the couches in that I would have to sign a waiver saying how if they damaged it bringing it in, it would be my responsibility.. soo I called Jeff and we decided that since it was only 3/4 of an inch that we would sign the waiver and try it.  So the guys went out and got the couches.  Jules and I prayed that everything would be fine.  I know it sounds silly to be praying that my couches don't rip but I know that God heard my prayers and Jules' prayers because they were able to get it in no problem.  They did scuff the door frame a bit but since we are renting we will just repaint that when we move out.  There was NO damage to the couches at all so I'm glad i made that call.  I really had no choice though.. it was either sign the waiver or pick out a completely different couch/loveseat set and since I no longer had a couch in my living room at all I needed some seating.   Anyway.. Jules was so excited about the new couch she could hardly contain herself when they were bringing it in. Silly girl.  Toby was asleep when they brought it so after his nap he went into the living room and just said "WOW" with his palms up in the air like someone would when they say I don't know.  It was very cute.   Then he immediately climbed up and snuggled it.

nothing about schooling....

I just wanna type so I may not talk about schooling.  I have a lot of stuff to do today so I thought if I typed it out on my blog it will keep me somewhat accountable to do it.  hmm will it work, i don't know!  I invited one of Jeff's friends over to help me rearrange my living room this afternoon.  I need to be ready when I get my new couches on friday!  I offered to have him stay for supper and since his wife and daughter is out of time he jumped at the chance!!   Soooo I have to clean the closet so I can shove my scrapbooking stuff in there, finish the hem on our living room curtains (which I started in February!! )  Clean up the living room and kitchen and figure out what to make for supper.  Oh and I have to also do school with Jules as well as yesterday's bible lesson that we didn't have time for. (swimming lessons and I wasn't feeling well yesterday)

Oh and Toby has a black eye!  Two nights ago we were cleaning the playroom and he wandered out into the living room, hit his cheekbone on something and got a big bruise.  Yesterday it was just  bruised on the cheekbone but this morning when he woke up it had spread to under his eye.

Well, it's taken me quite a while to write this entry as I had to stop to pick Toby off the floor as he had fallen trying to climb onto my chair, then I noticed his toenails digging into my legs so I decided to cut his toenails and then i spent some time getting many many squeezes from a little boy who was soo grateful to mommy for STOPPING the nail cutting session! LOL  and now it's time to start school with Jules and start my day.  I hope I can get everything I need to get finished, done.  (did that sentence make sense?  I have no idea and don't care either )

wow it's been a while

Wow September has been a busy month!  There have been many times where I think about blogging and then get sidetracked!  I got a comment on my last entry from Linda asking some questions so I thought I would answer them.

How is school going?  School is going great!  We finished her Math book and her LA book so I scheduled up some more work.  We are now doing The Complete Book of Phonics which I didn't realize but was three grades in one book so we will see how far we get with that this year. We have also started book A in the Get Ready The Code.  We are still working on her workbook for HWT too.  For Math we have begun some old publications of Singapore Math workbooks that I picked up at a flea market.  She is really enjoying them and I've spread them out so that we only do one page a day. Once or Twice a week we do Draw Write Now and Leading Little Ones to God.She is really blossoming alot and I love it.  She is doing so well.  Today we were doing school and I got distracted for a second and she said Okay mommy i'm gonna wait for you cuz you have to teach me!

How is it without babysitting?
I am loving being free without having an extra little person (who wasn't mine) around.  We get to go out a lot more and Jules got registered three weeks ago for swimming lessons that the local homeschool association was putting on.  She is just LOVING that.  I'm liking it too cuz my friend Holly put her little girl in and she's in the same class as Jules so we mom's gab for the first 40 minutes and then we get to go into the pool with them for the second half.

Are you doing much with Toby or do you do what I do and let him sleep while we school?   We used to do school while he napped but now that I don't have to babysit, I find that it's easier to get it all done first thing in the morning so we dont' have to worry about it the rest of the day.   Plus we all get quiet time when Toby naps which is a nice break to the day.  Jules would talk my ear off all day long if she could! he he.  As for doing stuff with Toby, He usually just plays around while we are doing school but sometimes he wants to color so I give him some papers to color on.  Usually he likes to sneak his hand over and scribble on Julianna's workbooks but I usually can catch him before he does too much damage.  He is pretty fast though.  As for doing actual school stuff with him.  We sing songs.. he loves having books read to him and we count everytime we go up the stairs.  He's pretty good at counting now.. he'll fill in for the numbers 2, 3 ,5, 7,8, 10, and 11  It's very cute! One other thing we do sometimes is put worship music on and dance. He LOVES to dance.  His sister teaches him a lot!  He ends up being her student cuz of course she's gotta be a teacher to someone.  So he learns alot from her.  For example, she taught him the correct way to sling a purse around his shoulder today! hehe.  She also taught him to stand on the end of the couch and see how far he could jump.  I will put an end to that when we get our new couches on friday.. lol for now they were having fun though.

Anyway... i smell a pretty stinky boy and I want to get the closet and the playroom cleaned before the kids bedtime sooooo it's off to work I go.
