My Family

Meet Me!

I am 37 years old and blessed with a wonderful husband and two children. I enjoy watching my children as they learn about God's world. My desire is to teach them to walk in the ways of the Lord and to be dependant on Him for all things. I also enjoy gardening, sewing, and reading/studying God's Word.

My Husband

My husband is a Nascar fan. Dale Earnhardt, Sr. is plastered all over the walls of our garage along with Dale Jr. He owns two older Chevy trucks that he is constantly tinkering with.

My Daughter

Our little girl is 3 1/2 years old! It seems like she was born just yesterday. She is very energetic and curious. She enjoys talking and asks many questions. We are blessed that she is developing a love for Jesus and is seeking to know more about who He is. She loves to do "projects" which can be anything from coloring to crafting or even pre-school work.

My Son

Our son is 9 1/2 years old and he is growing up to be a kind and compassionate young man. He enjoys playing baseball and being outdoors. He also likes to cook and build things. Give him K'nex, Magnetix, or craft sticks and dowel rods and he will spend hours creating things. He also loves the Lord and seeks to learn more about Him. He has made the decision to follow the Lord and be baptized this summer. It is so wonderful to see him desire to be obedient to the Lord.

Christmas Carol and Hymn Unit Study

Posted in Homeschooling

We are doing a unit study about Christmas carols and hymns along with a study on the Names of Jesus this month.  They are both from EasyFunSchool.  I must thank jaminacema for posting about this unit study on her blog.

We began by going over the introduction and I found the vocabulary to be very interesting.  I found out that the word "carol" originally referred to a dance being performed in a circle.  Since I enjoy worshipping with Hebraic dance I got all excited.  Circle dancing is so much fun!  It is a wonderful way to worship.

Then, the first song we studied was Good Christian Men Rejoice.  This was written by Heinrich Suso.  We used Cyber Hymnal to listen to the song and read more about it.  Now, I said I got excited when I learned the word "carol" had referred to circle dancing, but when I read this sentence I wanted to get up and dance!

Folklore has it that Suso, hearing angels sing these words, joined them in a dance of worship.

Oh my!  Can you imagine the Lord giving you inspiration for the words to a song by allowing you to hear the angels sing them?  I don't believe that is folklore....I believe it is truth.  Angels are messengers of the Lord.

I encourage you to read the words of this song.  It affirms the true meaning for the reason we celebrate Christmas - the birth of our Savior - the best gift of ever!

Blessings,

Stacy

P.S.  Check out my new blog at Homestead Blogger and see the pictures of our 10 new puppies.  Yes, I said ten!  They are so adorable but we had a rough time getting them here.  Click here to find out how they arrived in the world.............
