What a Crazy Week!!!!
This has been a crazy week. We live in Arkansas close to the Ar/Ok state line. Last Friday evening an ice storm came through. Over the weekend we went through two more waves of this storm. Our town was blessed to have kept power running for most. We had some ice, but not as much as Oklahoma residents did. In fact, my mother in law lives about 7 miles across the state line, in Oklahoma and she lost power Saturday afternoon. She came into town to stay with us. We took her out the next day to get some additional things from home and we were amazed at the difference in the amounts of ice. As you left Arkansas and drove into Oklahoma, the farther west we drove the worse the ice was. And we're talking only seven miles away from our house. It was crazy. The storm is over but the weather is still very cold. The temps have stayed at or below freezing through today. We are anxiously awaiting the "big warm up" tomorrow, a high of 38 degrees!
Added to this is that I have not been babysitting this week because the little boy I care for became ill before the storm and he now has a "light" case of pneumonia. My daughter now has a severe cold and it is by prayer alone that she is getting well. She hasn't been doing any pre-school work this week but I have managed to get my son through his lessons, or most of them anyway.
My mother in law is still with us and the children are enjoying her. She works during the day and is here in the evenings. She has supplied ready to bake cookie dough and treats all week. I am sure she is getting homesick as she is used to being by herself in the evenings. Hopefully she is enjoying her time here as well.
We are waiting to see what the weather brings this weekend. Power is still out in many areas and if the snow comes I don't know if that will slow things down or not. We have certainly learned a lesson - always be prepared......no matter where you live or what type of weather you are used to, there can be surprises. Thankfully, we prepared, stocked up on food, water, etc. and had a back up plan to go to my mom's if our power went out because she has a fire place.
Time to go. My little one is calling.

I am glad you prepared for it. When we lived in KC, we had a very bad ice storm, it took all of us by surprise. After that we have always kept an extra supply every winter just in case of a surprise storm. Glad you all were OK! Blessings,
