• Nov. 4, 2007 - Afternoon at the park

We took the kids to the park this afternoon. The new favorite is playing tag in the maze. K would cry when she was it, and M never did get tagged. He would always stay far away from whomever was it. Of course P is the fastest and I think she secretly loves the hunt and thrill of being 'it.'  The good sport award would have to go to S, who always smiled when she was it. Of course the smile was way to big when she sneaked up on me and I was it for a change.

• Jul. 23, 2005 - Water Wars - A friendly neigborhood war

About a week ago a challange was issued to our neighbors across the street. War, and I am not talking about a deck of cards. Boundries were set up, pylons set in the middle of the road. Weapons were readied. Victims were targeted. This was no simple game. The last war was not easily forgotton, but like all wars there was no clear winner from the last war. Each side thought they could win, but it was not winning but honor that was at stake. Bragging rights. Finally, the first volley was issued and chaos reigned. After a series of campaigns stealth spies were sent to cut off the supply line. Liberty was  threatened and reinforcements  were called. Yet like all wars there was no clear winner.

Before you get worried about what is happening on a small street in California, let me tell you about the combatents and who was attacking who. The weapons of choice are water, buckets, and a water hose. The teens (best friends) against the 11 year old best friends.  The reinforcements were the Moms of all the kids. As Moms we of course targeted the oldest girls with buckets of water as they tried to turn off the water hose of the opposing team. Of course this was not a dirty war, in fact by the end of the war every kid between the two houses were soaking wet. Sound confusing? Most wars are confusing. However, all the kids love water wars and look forward to when war is declared some other time in the distant future.

• Jul. 14, 2005 - Donut Fairies

My neighbor across the street brought some leftover donuts for my kids before they woke up. There were just enough for everyone to have one donut. When I asked my 3 year old Kelsey which one she wanted she replied, "oh, the one with splinters." The donut happened to have sprinkles on it. Hmm yes that does sound like sprinkles and does look an awful lot like splinters. I will take sugar splinters anyday. lol

• Jun. 28, 2005 - Water Woes

I think my life is slowly leaking away somedays.I can not believe how many things are leaking in my house. God has got to be telling me something but I am not figuring it out. The fridge is leaking water when you get a cold drink, so I turned off the water line till I can fix it. The dishwasher won't drain the water properly. The toilet keeps running after it is flushed, till you jiggle the handle repeatedly. The washer seems to be leaking a small amount of water when you use it. It also doesn't fill with hot water, and hasn't for several years. Of course the microwave hasn't worked in years either, so if I want a cup of hot water I have to boil it the hard on the stove top. That's just the inside. Outside we have sprinklers that don't work right, and a pool sweep that doesn't want to go to the shallow end of the pool.

• Jun. 25, 2005 - Camp Swampy

There are times when it doesn't pay to have a pool. When it turns green is one of them. I considered throwing fish into the pool and calling it a pond, but the kids vetoed the idea. So we drained it and filled it with sparking clean water. The kids however had a fabulous time swimming in it as it filled up.
