The Holy Spirit-God's gift to us

Did you know that the Holy Spirit is a gift from God?  Jesus prophecised that it would come when He had been glorified (crucified, risen, and later sent to Heaven).  Read more about it in John 7:39.  You must be baptized in the Holy Spirit in order to recieve this gift.

The Holy Spirit will cause you to speak in tongues. Tongues is something YOU aren't actually saying yourself.  YOU MUST HAVE THE HOLY SPIRIT TO SPEAK IN TONGUES. Tongues is great for praying when you don't know what to pray for or you don't know if you are praying right. Don't expect to recieve tongues right away.  I have been baptized in the Holy Spirit and still haven't been able to speak in tongues. Be patient and remember, in Acts it says The Holy Ghost will give you utterance.

Jesus said, "Let anyone who thirsts come to me and drink".  He was talking about living water.  2 Main rivers of this Living Water flow out of us: Prayer and Praise.  Also when we have Living Water flowing out of us from the Holy Spirit we can do miracles.  Not US but the Spirit of God IN us.

Read the book of Acts to understand the Holy Spirit fully.

God's beautiful nature

I don't know about you, but I've been getting beautiful weather lately!  Usually, I'll take time to sit out on the very top of the roof, and glance at a breathtaking sunset over the wonderful 10 acres God has blessed us with.  Every beauty of nature, God created with a purpose.  We need to take time and enjoy the amazing beauty God made for us to enjoy.  Take a day off (the Sabbath) and eat a picnic in a field of wildflowers, hike in the mountains, relax on the beach and soak up the sun.  Enjoy God's gift!

Recovery

Thank you all so much for your prayers & thoughts!  My brother is doing much better and he will get his cast off soon.  We've had a lot of people come over and offer their sympathies and Philip has enjoyed that.  Thanks again!

Prayer Needed

I am requesting your prayers during this tough time.  On Sunday, my brother broke his arm severely while attempting a trick on the trampoline.  As soon as our family got to the ER, the doctor said it was one of the worst breaks he had ever seen.  Philip (my brother) went into surgery and thankfully, didn't have to actually be cut open.  The  bill is very big and we may not be able to afford to be homeschooled next year.  Any ways, Philip is in recovery and will have to be in a cast for about 5 months.  We are praying that his recovery  time is shortened so he can get back to school and enjoy life.   Thanks for your prayers!

Compassion International:Sponsering a child

Compassion International is an organization that helps needy children across the world.  It teaches them of Jesus' love and care, and sends them to a Christian school.  We are sponsoring an ADORABLE little boy named Pierre in Rwanda, Africa.  Peirre has already progressed in school; he's sending us precious little stories and drawings.  This gives little, helpless children a chance in life!  Go to www.compassion.com to learn more.

Public School vs. Homeschool: Part 2

Onto the next part - learning.  When I was in fifth grade, a teacher of mine gave us the hard copy of a test with the answers written right beside them.  We were told to study that.  Needless to say, we all got perfect scores on the test the next day.  My mom told the school officials and they didn't see anything wrong with it.  The teachers didn't see anything wrong with lecturing the whole class about a concept every one but one person didn't understand.  I would suggest they get tutored, instead of wasting everyone elses time.  1 more example, then I'm done.  My brother came home one day, and my mom noticed he was on pg. 40 of a 600 page math book.  We were half way through the year!  She asked the teacher why this happened, and the teacher got mad and told her to mind her own business.  At the end of the year they were on page 100.  Please feel free to comment even if you didn't go to public school. I LOVE comments!  Part 3 is coming...

Public School vs. Homeschool - Part 1

Has anyone gone to public school?  I have - for seven years - until I started being homeschooled in 7th grade.  My mom decided to pull me out for very many reasons, #1 being the environment.  People (other girls especially)  were rude, vicious, and snobby.  If you have ever been to a public school there is normally ALWAYS a clique.  Girls in circles, whispering, giggling....there is nothing wrong with that.  But when they start gossiping about other people in a mean way - that's a red flag!  Then, occasionally, there is mean guys.  I've witnessed it, a group of guys harrassing a girl.  I know that sounds totally out of the ordinary, but there are guys who think their gender is the one who can control and dominate over girls.  I know that is true that God says a man is over his wife.  No prob with that.  But when guys ONLY care about themselves, now that's just not fair.  There is so much more to this story.  Stay tuned for part 2.......

Get Involved!

Like I said before, sports are a great way to interact with other homeschooled teens around you.  But there are MANY other things!  I used to go to homeschool P.E. and I met some friends there.  We had a lot of fun playing games and working.  I also went to Christian choir at a local church.  It was a very good mix of voices, and people came from all over the region to hear us.  I know a lot of people who go to tutorial schools to do some subjects, or all of their school there.  What do you do for other homeschooling activities?

Where do you do school?

I used to do school in my room, but today I moved into the family room, with my siblings.  I liked being in the company of my family, it wasn't as boring as it was upstairs.  I also found it less distracting, as I got my work done quicker.  Where do you do school and why do you like doing it there?

Facebook/Myspace?

I got a facebook a year ago.  I found it a fun way to interact and communicate with my friends.  However, people made mean comments on my pictures, some deleted me as a friend, and it was hard to see past that.

I realized that good relationships cannot be built in the cyber world of Facebook. It's easy to talk or confront friends online, but ask yourself- "Could I actually say this to this person on the phone or to their face?"

I have chosen to not check my facebook anymore partially because of my mom's influence and my own decsision. The technology world can be very vicious and evil and I refuse to take any more part in it.

I would love to hear what you want to say - it's OK if you don't agree with me.  I would love your opinion!

Homeschool Sports

I started cheering for the homeschool team NOAH (Northeastern Oklahoman Association of Homeschoolers) in early 2007.  I made a lot of new friends and had a great time associating with other Christian homeschoolers. The basketball and football players we cheered for looked united and seemed to be having a lot of fun.  Everyone on that team were friends.  They were very respectful to the cheerleaders, which displayed good manners.  Both teams won championships and the football team is undefeated.  I think homeschool sports are a great way to get involved and make new friends while having fun!
