Mar. 26, 2009 - My Stand on the Dating System
I do not date. I do not believe that dating is Biblical. It is a corrupt system that draws teens away from God, their family and friends. I am blessed that for all these years that I have been able to create a friendship with my savior. I am thankful for the time that I have had to be able to develop close relationships with my family members. I am going to wait for that Christian woman that God has waiting for me down the road.
One night about four months ago, my pastor and I went to look for some makeup to use in our church’s Christmas cantata. After we were finished getting the supplies that we needed, he and his wife invited me to have dinner with them at their house. Earlier that day, Pastor asked me where I stood on the dating factor. I told him what I said above. During dinner, the pastor’s wife was washing some dishes as he and I ate. I asked him if it was worth not dating all those years and to just simply wait for God’s best. The second I said that, both of them turned to me with an immediate “YES!”
I believe that because of my choosing not to get involved with a girl romantically, God has blessed me with friends that I could have had never imagined. And if God's will has no woman for me, I still have Him and will still continue to love Him.

I agree whole-heartedly--not dating is the way to go. What irks me a lot is the fact that teens date and break up in youth groups, making hard feelings between them. By the way, may I add you as a friend?

Hey!!
Yep yep yep, I totally agree :) The thing is, when you date, you get into the habit of going from one person to the next, with no commitment. So when you suddenly decide you want to get married, its gonna be really hard to stay together. Old habits are hard to break. Thats why the divorce rate is so high these days.
I kissed dating goodbye is such a good book, I need to get my hands on the second one :) I've heard of the other one you mentioned, but haven't read it yet :)
Haha yeah, we did get wet. But, its always worth it to get a good picture!! :P

Hi Gabriel, great post.
Are you related to my dear friend Hannah
Woodward/AnAmericanGirl by any chance?
I have read Joshua Harriss I Kissed Dating Good-bye. I really liked that book and I think it really helped me realize that I should ditch the whole dating concept.
(Or as Joshua so perfectly puts it, KISS dating good-bye.)
I can see your strong love for God and your belief in not dating. My family and I also believe that it is not necessary for young men and young ladies to be starting a relationship at this time.
I hope that with that knowledge, you can understand why it would not be appropriate for you and I to be contacting each-other often. It is a family rule and as a young lady it is my rule too. I hope that you understand why I wont be commenting.
