Mar. 28, 2009 - 300 Phone Calls

This past week my landscaping boss (Jason) offered me a small job.  And I said “yes” willingly without asking what it was.  This is what he said “I need you to make 300 phone calls for me.”  My instant response with a little sarcasm was “Great!”   About a couple days later we met up and he gave me a 6 page list of the numbers.  I’ve been working on it for about 3 days and I finished it today!  It could have had taken one day but I had a lot of stuff going on throughout the week.  Have you ever been assigned to make 300 calls within 6 hours?  It’s crazy just thinking about it, phone call after phone call.  My arm fell asleep on my desk as I made the calls.  I even got to the point to where I started to sound like a recording.  I would say “Hello my name is Gabriel with (the company name), how are you doing today?”  Some people asked “is this a recording?”  And others would just hang up, it was pretty funny.   And now I am not afraid of calling people I don’t know at all.

Thanks for reading.

Hey!!
Ah that's so crazy!! Ugh I hate calling people, unless I know them really really well. But, I bet it was good for you :) Hehe its kinda fun to do something crazy once in a while though, like one time when someone called trying to sell us something I asked them if they knew Jesus and they hung up. I guess that meant no ;)
I couldn't remember when I took that one, but I looked on the photo specs and it was on the 26th. I'm not doing very well with this 365 :) But I'm taking more pictures than I was before, so I guess its working to an extent.

I couldn't imagine making 300 calls in 6 hours... I'd probably procrastinate until I barely had any time left. ^_^

People actually thought you were a recording, and even hung up on you?? That's bad...

I used to have a phobia of answering the phone! I was just so uncomfortable about it. But with my job, I had to get over that-- and fast! haha

I will remember to pray for you!
And Congrats!

Wow! I bet your were exhausted! I've talked on the phone to one person for like three hours but never called that many people in even a week.

Well, I haven't had to make 300 phone calls before, but when I volunteered at my library, I had to stuff kids goodiebags, with cupons, and reading charts, their were about 500 bags per box, and the boxes were uncoountable! Well I am happy you are done with the calls! :)
