Apr. 7, 2009 - Permission vs. Forgiveness
We have all heard the saying, “It is better to beg for forgiveness than ask for permission.” Well I say that is WRONG! This is only a lie that the world has come up with. It encourages children to become rebellious. It is a deceitful mindset that leads them down a dangerous path. I say “It is wiser to ask permission first than to beg for forgiveness.” If someone wants to do something that they don’t want their parents to know about, they never ask permission. That’s just a part of sin nature. If someone ever says “It is better to beg for forgiveness than ask for permission,” almost every time they are leading you into doing something that is against your parents and God. If you ask for permission first it will save you the headache of getting in big trouble. Permission is something that you ought to practice. It’s a tool that allows your parents to guide you. They have better judgment and are trying to keep you out of harm’s way. When they say no it is NOT because they don’t want you to have fun. Asking for permission is basic communication.
Of course, if you have wronged someone it is necessary to ask for forgiveness. It is the thing you need to learn to show others. “Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven”. Matthew 18:21-22 Forgiveness is most needed when one calls out for God to forgive them of their sin. That is a true example of “begging for forgiveness.” For you are saved by grace. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Ephesians 2:8 “In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:” Colossians 1:14

Hey!!
Wow, thanks :)
I totally agree!! If you're about to do something you know is wrong, you can't just say "I'll say sorry after". Thats makes no sense :)

I like that quote.
I have always heard (from the secular world view) "Better to ask forgiveness than permission" which would imply that you are doing something you know you shouldn't be doing in the first place. lol

I totally agree with you!!! Isn't there a passage in Romans that talks about the same thing?....just wait a minute.....I think I might find it..............Its Romans 6:1-2 What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin so that grace may increase? May it never be! How shall we who died to sin still live in it?
