By the word of their testimony

Mar. 31, 2007 - My son won in the AWANA Grand Prix

My younger son has had a difficult three years with the AWANA Grand Prix. Every year, my husband and I try to tell him that it is the joy of making the cars and racing them. Well, my child cannot understand that. He cries at the end of every Grand Prix because he never wins for speed or best design.

This Wednesday night, the races began. The children were hanging on the edge of their seats. There were so many SPARKies racing that they had to divide them into two groups. My little guy was in the second group. The suspense was so thick. My son's car raced. It came in first. It raced again and came in first again. It raced several more times and came in first almost every time. Is he going to win a trophy this year?

At the end they called the names of the children who came third place first. My husband and I were taking comfort in knowing that our son might get third place. Well, his name was not called. Second place trophy, they called another child's name. I started praying because I did not know what to tell him if he did not get it this year. I mean he clearly won several races tonight. I could not see his face. I was sweating bullets. Then, I heard that my son tied for first place with another child. No way! He got first place. My guy won first place. He has never won anything. He worked hard. His father worked hard to help him. Every year we say, "we have no clue what we are doing." We go online and look up ways to make your car run faster. It paid off this time! My son finally got a trophy, but not second or third place. He got first place. My older son was a little upset that he did not get anything. I told him that he needed to be content with the fact that he has won two trophies for several years in the past. So, he seemed OK with that.

On the right, that is the winning car.  Many of the children started saying there goes the arrow.  Well, here is another article of success in homeschooling.  Only this time, it was my son!
