Just wanted to tell you that I really like your blog and to answer the above questions.

Why do we need to be pure? Assuming that you mean purity of body, mind, heart, and soul, the answer is because God wants us to be! Matthew 5:8, 1Corinthians 6:12-20, Galatians 5:16-25, 1Peter 1:15, Romans 12:1 Ephesians 4:24 and countless other well-known passages clearly state that God earnestly desires us to be pure in everything.

What is purity? Good question. God defines purity, and when scripture isn't clear about how we should be pure in a certain area, He makes it clear through the Holy Spirit.

How can you be pure? By earnestly searching Scripture for guidance in whatever area you are struggling in, honoring your parents by submitting to their judgment, and learning to heed the Holy Spirit's counseling.

When will it pay off? Don't expect it to pay off in earthly life. If we expect immediate rewards we will go through life angry at God and consumed with ourselves. Anyway, if we receive our reward here, we'll be giving up eternal Heavenly treasures, right? So my answer to this questions is "hopefully in Heaven."

Where does Purity come from? The standard for purity was set by Jesus, Who is the Author and Finisher of our faith. Real purity comes from the heart, and is stimulated by a desire to be more like Christ. Fake purity comes from a desire to be "holier than thou," and does not please God.

Thanks for posting those questions. It was good for me to have to answer them. Remember Matthew 5:8, "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God." "Blessed" can be more literally translated to mean "happy." So even if it's heart to keep your heart pure (remember that physical and mental purity comes from purity of the heart) you will be happiest if you stick with it.
