I am going insane...more poetry.

If I could live back many years,
Past earth's strife and bitter tears,
I would live with Arthur's knights,
Yet apart from sword, still I would write.

The pen and ink is my desire,
Yet I love a trek through muddy mire.
And though music is well and fine,
Still I find writing on my mind.

Oft the muse eludes my grasp,
And keeps away my beloved task.
But when the inspiration flows,
You need not ask, for you will know.

It is hard to describe this feeling,
That brings about such emotional healing.
Like 'lectricity through my veins,
Flow soft, melodious strains.

I am a novelist, it is true,
And being a poet is quite new.
But when the plot eludes my grasp,
In a poem is where I shall bask.

Thought I'd post this...

Sing, O Muse, of the land of my birth,
That sits in the middle of our fertile earth.
Sing of my love and affinity,
Of the fair land called Trinity.

Sing of the plains stretching great and wide,
Tell of the mountains, where evil hides.
Sing of the ocean, all white with spray,
And Sing, O Muse, of the beautiful day.

See the great fountains of Breccia!
Note the green trees of Talc all covered in copia*.
See the Trinitian shores all covered in sand,
And See, O Muse, Candoria's dark lands.

Go to the Forest of the King,
And see the great trees without a ring.
Go to His castle and see that no plant dwindles,
And Go, O Muse, to where love was first kindled.

And now, O Muse, sweep me away,
And take me back before the break of day.
Take me back to my fair Trinity,
Where lies all my love and affinity.

*copia is a large, darked stripped, tropical fruit found only in Talc.

Hello all, I am most likely going to a writing camp this summer...in Ohio...and I am going to be all by myself! *sobs* So, I was wondering if any of you would be interested in coming and hanging out with me. Yes, for my siblings it would be a long drive (but a short fly) and I would REALLY like for you to come. Here is the link...check it out! Maybe I'll see some of you there! Kantare

Day 16

Well...here it is the last few hours of 2008, and I thought I'd write to you. I have started a new story idea that is non-fantasy, mainly due to the fact that I was challenged to do something other than fantasy by Ninwaii...so, we'll see how that goes.

Oh, I don't know whom of you know, but I and some of my non-blood relatives made a blog that I am sure you would all love. We call ourselves Poverty's Penmen, and we all live together on a place we call Poverty Flatts. Come and read of our Adventures (Mis or otherwise)! I'm sure you will enjoy it!
http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/nonbloodrelatives
Well, I will write again, sometime next year...and it may be any moment. Fare you well!

P.S. For those of you who voted, the USA shoes made it...thanks for all your input!

Day 15

I do believe I haven't had this much fun in YEARS. Today, it is 61 degrees (F) and raining steadily. Thus, you may imagine, this day had the potential to be VERY depressing. Well, my little brother and I had to go feed our animals this morning.
After we were done, I got the crazy notion to go into our fields, and just run around. This we did, and then we splashed in every single puddle we could find. We got soaked. Then, we made a mud castle, and painted our faces with the leftovers. (keep in mind I am almost 16...strange I know, but man, it was fun!)
Once we were finished with our masterpieces, we splashed more and rinsed off our hands, and then tramped back up the big hill to the house.
Upon reaching the house, we didn't think we had done enough, so we wrestled with our dogs in the rain too. Mom couldn't believe what she saw when we hiked the stairs are rang the doorbell. I had LOADS of fun.

Shoes? From a Guy?

Ok, so I need some help deciding on a new pair of converse. For those of your who don't like converse, you may be horrified at these shoes, but I really don't care, because I am a converse person (nothing personal). But if you like converse, please look at the two following links, and then vote in the poll to tell me which one you like best. Kantare

Day 14

So...the tournament's over, and I have rather good news........my partner and I WON FIRST PLACE!!!!!! We had the awards ceremony today, and we found out that several judges gave us a PERFECT SCORE! I am really excited. It is late now, and I just finished dancing...(an old English style dance, where men wear jackets, and ladies wear gowns) and I am exhausted. Dancing is a good way to get all that speech-making out of your system though. Well, it is late for me now, and I have to awake early for the three hour drive home. Hopefully, you will hear from me again soon! Kantare

Day 13

So here I am in Middle TN, and I am participating in a speech tournament.  I am exhausted right now, because we got up at 5 am and traveled three hours, and then the competitions began.  My partner and I are doing a humorous duo.  We ended up giving the speech four times, and the third time, we had our audience rolling laughing.  Our final speech is tomorrow; wish us well!

Day 12

Yes, it has been a LONG time since I last wrote about my life...hectic as usual. Fencing is going well, and I just had a jazz/symphonic concert Tuesday (the 9th). I am going to a speech tournament tomorrow, at 5 am (woot) and I am doing a humorous duo with a friend. My book is going ok, I guess, sorry I haven't updated in a while. I am currently re-writing the entire beginning so as to make it not flow so fast. As it was, my readers were hurled into my world a bit too fast. I am also adding more detail (I am a detail freak), and I am trying to develop the characters better, and add more emotion. I have always said that if I make you cry, laugh, or both, then I fully accomplished my mission, and I surely hope I shall with some of these scenes. Merry Christmas, and I hope I can remember to write again soon! : ) Kantare

I'm getting to be a regular "taggie" now...so here it is.

1. If you were to describe yourself as a color, what would it be?: Most certainly orange

2. What is your favorite animal?: I like the bald eagle best.

3. What is your favorite musical instrument?: Trumpet...(I'm nothin but a brass and percussion guy!)

4. Do you have a favorite number?: 22

5. Roller coasters or boat rides?: Depends, but right now I'd go with roller coaster...

6. If you were an animal, what would you be?: I would be a red tailed (headed...either one) hawk.  If I could choose that is...my friends might say different.

7. What coin best describes you?: A dime, I think.  Small in personally, but worth more than appearances portray.

8. Do you like tags?: Yes!

9. Do you wish this tag would end?: Yes, tags that go on forever are annoying...

10. Morning or evening?: Evenings...I'd rather sleep in and stay up late.

11. Mugs or just plain cups?: I prefer a mug, but I use cups more often.

12. Describe yourself as a...: NORMAL, homeschooler who has WAY too much to do, and lets his imagination take him into distant lands,

13. fiction or non-fiction?: Fiction ALL THE WAY!!!

14. Do you wish you were somewhere else?: Yes, probably with one of my friends having a random conversation about nothing in particular...

15. Do you like candy or do you not like candy?: Ummm, that is a dumb question...SHUH!!  (that means yes for all you who don't know me that well.)

O.K. now that this has FINALLY ended, I think I'll tag Hriste, Fanatic, and MaidenCapitolBallot...have fun!

Ok, so I was tagged by Hriste, so here it goes:

Link to the person who tagged you.
Post the rules on your blog. Write six random things about yourself.
Tag six people at the end of your post.
Let each person know he or she has been tagged.
Let the tagger know when your entry is up.

1. I love chocolate, but I ABSOLUTELY HATE dark chocolate...

2. I've drank 10 cups of hot chocolate in one day, and that was on a canoing trip in Canada, and each cup had at least 2-4 pack of hot chocolate in it.

3. I fence and I try to do at least 150 crunches a day. (try...I'm SO busy...)

4. I LOVE to take pictures of the sky.

5. I have a strange memory...I can remember things of no value whatsoever...(like the earliest in the morning I have received a call on my phone...3:32a.m.) but then I don't memorize facts (scientific or mathematic) easily.

6. I hate  politics, but I love to do reviews on things...

Ok, I tag Grace, Ninwaii, MaidenCapitolBallot, Thrill, AuthorElf, and GothamCityNights.

Day 11

Well, as you can see, I'm back from my camping trip!  I had LOADS of fun, and I even got to write 1,000 or so words on my book.  We (Ninwaii's family and mine) went to Fall Creek Falls (near Crossville) and camped for about 4 days.  We played cards, lazed around, went biking, lazed around some more, went boating, and then, you guessed it, lazed even more.  I ALMOST convinced Ninwaii to jump out of her canoe in exchange for my drinking a full mug of coffee (I hate the stuff, and she knows it) but, she wouldn't do it.  I would rag her about it, but I'll be a nice best friend and not, for once.

Mom's asking if I'm getting off or not now, so I guess I had better go.  She said something about cleaning the little bathroom.  Fun.  I'll write again as soon as I am sane once more!

Outlawed Princess Tag

Here is a section for people I've tagged to place their works.  This is OutlawedPrincess' area for her and all the people she tags now.  You'll see once this gets going.

Here is the starter paragraph.  Don't freak, I'm writing this solely for my imagination and haven't prepared anything.  Let's try Sci-Fi to start.  The rules are, you have to include the following paragraph as your STARTER.  You take this wherever you want it, but the word limit is 2,000 words.  No revisions! (unless it's spelling)  Once you're satisfied you're done, post the results in the comment section under this post.  Sorry, no reward except for the great feeling you get when you write.  Good luck, and don't let your imagination take you too far away from home!

Kantare Bandoine

Carston yanked the clip out of his ancient Colt handgun.  He slammed another in as fast as he possibly could and fired five shots down the dark corridor of the engine room.  He heard an explosion, probably some compressed gas can, and then a roar that would chill any other person's blood instantly.  For Carston, that sound was satisfaction; he was taking vengence for every crew member that had been mercilessly slaughtered.  He didn't know what that thing was, but Carston did know that it would not claim him before he had fired his last shot.  He leaped from the cover of darkness and raced up the stairs.

Day 10 (finally)

Greetings mortals, I'm back!  I can't believe I've left off from my dear home of Trinity for so long, but I must accredit my return to my best friend, mistress Ninwaii.  I was looking around in her castle just now, and I couldn't believe she was actually blogging more than me, so I decided it was time for me to come back and talk to all my friends again.
My life has gotten exceptionally busier as Father Time continues to count down the hours of this tired world.  I am now sitting first chair trumpet in symphonic band, and first chair in jazz band.  Not much of a change there, except that we had a major loss of seniors last year, turning our 26ish band into 19.  That hurt us greatly, and our trombone section is very young not making it any better.  I'm still sticking with it though, with God's great help, and hopefully by spring I'll be able to tell you that we are sounding great.
Aside from this, mom has "signed me up" for speech and debate.  (yea)  We went to one meeting, and when asked how I liked it, I said, "oh, it's ok, but I don't know if I love it yet."  Mom responded, "Well, good, cause you're doing it."  I'm doing a humorous duo with a friend, and it's called "A Defenseless Creature."
Apart from all this, I am playing drums for my youthgroup, going to a small group bible study, taking trumpet lessons, and I just started fencing.  That is AWESOME, and I hope to go to some competitions this year.
Oh, for all you who were keeping up with my book, I have decided to re-write the beginning few chapters.  (I'm sure Ninwaii's about ready to shoot me by now)  That's going pretty well, but inspiration isn't coming as easy as it used to.
Well, now that I've bored you to death, I must get ready for trumpet lessons.  Until next time!

Kantare

P.S.  Brisinger comes out in 3 days!!!  Whoohoo!

Happenings in my life

Day 1

Awnay Rien,

I thought that it would be cool if I had a section that I just told you some of what is happening in my life.  Don't worry, I won't tell you everything, my computer would fry from to much information.  I noticed in my posts that I mentioned waiting for my Eagle Board of Review for Boy Scouts.  Well, I am now an official Eagle Scout!  The effective date was 11/29/07, but I just forgot to tell you.  Talk to you all later!

Kantare

Day 2

Well, I have just bought a laptop with the money I received at my Eagle Ceremony, (it being tax free day and all) and I have been writing on it like mad for the past little while.  I thought I might as well post a little more (being an author it is hard not to want to share ones work you know), and also tell you that I passed 200 pages on my book!  (When I say pages I mean a full 8 x 11 page.)  My word count is around 87,200, and the plot is working out quite well.  The only problem is the ending.  It has been bugging me for a long time.  I don't know exactly how to cut off the story so you all will be dying to read more, and I sorta know what I want to happen, but I don't know where to stop writing.  It's all very perplexing...

Buh-Bye!

Day 3

Good news!  Whilst I was typing late Tuesday night (around 11:40p.m.) I finally figured out my ending!  Its going to be great...a little LOTR and Eragon combined I would say, but then again I combine so much no one could tell the difference.  I do believe I have to do Biology now...

K

Day 4

Well, yesterday my band, the Knoxville Christian Youth Band went to Dollywood to compete with 12-15 other bands.  Our band is around 25 people, and we were competing with bands that had 80+ kids.  We took 1st place in our division, and we took first place overall with a Superior and a score of 95!  It's really cool that a small homeschooler band that only practices once a week can beat that many other schools who practice every day.  Just anted to let you guys know.

Kantare

Day 5

Hey guys, just wanted to let you all know that I have started a new blog that you can view here: http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/youngbiblescholars/ , and my editor has also started a blog of her own here: http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/ninwaii .  I'd like some discussion on my new blog...right now its just been me and two others.  Come and check it out!

Day 6

Well, my best friend just took off headed to Germany right now.  My dad is an air traffic controller, and he just spoke to their plane that just lifted off.  It feels weird knowing that a person I know will be on the other side of the world tomorrow.  She'll be going to a ginormous homeschooler conference with us pretty soon though, so that will be fun.  Oh, that's Ninwaii I'm talking about BTW.  She's supposed to be blogging about what she does whilest in Germany...so I'm going to watch her blog to see if she really does.

TTFN!

Kantare

Day 7

Well...I knew I had to tell you all this, because it is HUGE.  I just finished my first rough draft of Kantare and Ninwaii!!!  Now I'm going on to editing (oh joy...) and then on to publishing.  While I'm looking for a publisher, (after I'm finished editing) I'm going to start on the rough draft for Kantare and Ninwaii 2, of which I already have the first couple chapters sketched out.  Thought you'd all like to know!

Kantare

Day 8

Well, I'm in Winston-Salem, NC right now at a huge homeschool conference, and I'm about to go down to the "ball room" and play a ton of games.  Last night I danced for the first time, (whoa it was GREAT) and my favorite dance was most certainly swing dancing.  Yes, homeschoolers can be a LITTLE social as I found out, and we can even dance together!  Mrs. Amelia Harper was here at NCHE as this conference is called, and she has agreed to read my book and give me some tips.  (Hope that all goes well...)  Talk to you guys later!

K

P.S.  I'm going to a music camp pretty soon, so check this section out and I'll tell you some of what I do.  : : )

Day 9

So I am at music camp right now, and it is amazingly awesome.  We are having our concert tomorrow night, and we have to play all three songs by memory, and we have to improvise to all three.  I have learned lots of things on jazz and improvisation, and I have been going from 6:15 am to 11:00 pm every day.  Overall though, it has been a great week.  For you people in TN, Don Hough (Huff)  is my band instructor, and has been one of the most hard jazz gigs I have ever been in, but also the most fun.  I'll write again on Saturday or sooner and tell how our concert goes, and then it's off to Boy Scout camp on Sunday!  (Yea the joys of an unsocialized homeschooler.)

TTFN!
