Carston yanked the clip out of his ancient Colt handgun. He slammed another in as fast as he possibly could and fired five shots down the dark corridor of the engine room. He heard an explosion, probably some compressed gas can, and then a roar that would chill any other person's blood instantly. For Carston, that sound was satisfaction; he was taking vengence for every crew member that had been mercilessly slaughtered. He didn't know what that thing was, but Carston did know that it would not claim him before he had fired his last shot. He leaped from the cover of darkness and raced up the stairs...
"Bang!!! You're dead!"
"Ugh!!" Jakob collapsed to the plush carpet and back into reality as his head smacked against the corner of the wall in his friend's house. "Ouch."
"Is everything okay out here?" Carston's mother asked, bounding from the next room. Five year old Carston skipped up the last few steps and grabbed his older friend's arm.
"Come on, buddy. Let's go build a train track."
"Now, you're sure you'll be okay with both of them?" Carston heard his mother talking to Jayanne, Jakob's older sister. She had been hired to babysit Carston, while Mrs. Steele attended a piano workshop for the afternoon. Sixteen year old Jayanne had brought along her little brother to keep Carston company.
"Everything will be just fine, Mrs. Steele. Have a good time, and try not to worry."
"Thank you so much, Jayanne. Bye, kids!"
About an hour and two minutes later, Jayanne was cleaning up the crumbs from the pizza dinner, while the boys played in Carston's room, rowdy as ever, crashing cars and causing pandemonium among the army of toy soldiers. Someone knocked on the door. Jayanne peered out the window, to see the van that had eerily passed by a few times earlier. It was pretty old and beaten, with a strange design, like that of an eagle with hands instead of wings painted on the door of the passenger side. She looked in the direction of the door to see an older fellow with a cane and a pipe standing back from the door. He looked quite respectable, not seeming to match the suspicious vehicle at all.
"Guys, be quiet!" Jayanne whispered harshly.
"What is it?" Jakob questioned.
"There's someone at the door" his sister mouthed.
"We'll get our guns," Carston joined the almost silent conversation.
At that moment, the telephone rang...
I was not sure where to put this comment so I am putting it here.
Hi! My name is Isilwen and I am a new member of Penstroke. I was informed by ThrillAuthor that you were battling an enemy saturday and so could not join us for the meeting. I was sorry to hear that as had we known we would have riden out and helped out defeat this enemy, I mean we already had an army and would have given ThrillAuthor and I, rather Maddock (My character) Something to do.
Anyways, I was reading the story expert you had posted below and I really liked it! It was very good, though I was disappointed as it was so short!
However, I am glad I found your blog and will be back to read more of your work.
So, until next time, Isilwen of Hemlock
Thank you much, but I must point out that this is not really my work, rather, just something I conjured up for several other friends to elaborate on. The above posting is by Ninwaii (not me). I wrote the started. I still do have an excerpt from my novel here, but now that I think about it, I believe that was what you were talking about. Thanks, and I MAY see you Saturday...Ninwaii and I are going camping with our families.
Oh! I see, that makes since as I saw you had ThrillAuthor on here. So what is it exactly?
Sadly I won't be on Saturday, by all out ward standards, God can always change that. Anyways, I hope we are both on at least one Saturday, I was sorry you couldn't have made it last week, we were having fun.
Are you just writing the one book or others as well?
You can...it's about a fisherman's son who is destined by Denaru to be a knight of His order. It is basically about the end of another world and the beginning of a new one...ours. It is good vs evil, knights and maidens, the whole shebang. There's a clip of it farther down on my blog along with the author's note. If you have any other questions please feel free to ask!
It sounds very exciting! I shall have to find the excerpt! How far are you into it?
When you mention it is the ending of one world and beinning of another you reminded me of Ted DeKker's books :D Ever read his?
Well, I will go for now, Isilwen
No, I haven't read his books. I am mostly done with the first book (editing now) and I got a little ways into the second. I'll probably have to change it thought to keep it in sinc with my revisions.
Oh yeah!!! Though editing isn't much fun, in my oppion I am glad you are that far along in it. Oh and sorry it takes me forever to answer you, I am always forgetting to look here.
Anyhow, I finally finished my book!!! Now editing :(
Do you have misbehaving characters, they enjoy changing the story I have learned
This blog is a place where Christian Homeschoolers can come together and chat about concerns, life, writing, and anything else of interest. Have fun in The Land of Trinity!
